Attention ZWG readers and contributors. With the overwhelming number of submissions for our next Zine we have officially filled up the 5th AND 6th issues. Any content that is now submitted will now be going into the 7th issue.

>> No.571350

Make it biweekly.

>>571350

Maybe. But considering this Zine is only a hobby for your humble editors, it'll probably remain a monthly publication. We are seriously thinking about raising the standards of the Zine considering how much of the current issues are subpar.

Also I have been promoting our Zine on other boards. Mainly /b/

A three-month buffer seem a little long to me. I think it's starting to be time to do some editorial axing.

IMO a 2 month between submission/publication wait is still reasonable.

I agree. The problem is that the current council format does not really allow for this.

>> No.571406

I Don't what the current organizational structure look like, but I suggest every submission gets forwarded to three editors, and a "yes" vote from at least two of them is required for acceptance to the zine.

That's a good idea. I'll bring it up for sure.

Wait wait wait. So the 4th issue isn't even out yet and the 5th and 6th issues are filled? Just take the best of what you got and put it into the 5th issue and can the rest, then when more stuff piles in and you have enough for another few issues take the best of it and put it into one issue. Get what I'm saying? If you're getting so many submissions only accept the best.

And you should have a submission schedule or something, like you must submit works for and issue by a certain date, take the best of what you get and can the rest, make the issue, then start taking submissions again. If you "fill up" issues too soon no one will submit work because they'll be ten issues behind. make sense?

Yes. I know what you mean. The problem is that the Zine operates in a council format and there has been severe resistance by the other editors to make changes.

Herp derp not a real editor.

I am not listed as I cannot be "contractually attached" to the Zine. If I were, I would be in conflict with my actual editing job IRL.

Pretty much this.
But since I can't really do anything to make Philospher-chan go away, I guess I'll just sit over here and read comments. Thanks for the free advertisement, I suppose.

Last time a janitor deleted a bunch. I hope this happens again. Actual status of the zine, Lindlar?

He hasn't really been dealing out too much misinformation. I guess to build trust as a troll..? I don't really get it.

The 4th, next issue, is full. We're currently working on filling the 5th. We have about 20 submissions in the 5th so far, so by the time the 4th is released it will probably be full.
No major changes have really been implemented. We're working on making it a lot prettier, with the help of MisterMonkeyMan and other artists/graphic designers. We've discussed it, and are considering becoming _slightly_ more selective, but nothing major. We kind of like having at least a month of buffer, so we can work on things in advance.

One more thing I did want to mention
We would really like to get reviews for the next issue. If you have the time, read through a story from the last issue and write down a paragraph or two on its major weaknesses. Try to avoid simply praising; it just not very helpful for writers, though pointing out specific things that makes it strong can be helpful. Send these to the zine g-mail and specify how/if you would like to be credited, and we'll add them to the review section for next time.
