I'm planning to write a not-so-short story about a contemporary couple of college students who have fascist tendencies. What do I need to read in order to make their political view not a biased "nazis are the devil" posture at the same time I don't praise it?
I'm not fascist nor I have read fascists essays and that's why I need your help.
Picture related, what I don't want to portray.
Also, sorry about any grammar errors; english isn't my first language.

Immerse yourself in /pol/-like places for a while. Be sensitive to the fact that people only turn towards radical ideologies because the current state of affairs is alienating to them.

Well the basic structure of fascism is a harmonious society with everybody doing his job and staying in place. Which as soon as something goes wrong needs a foreign scapegoat to keep the appearance of harmony.

All of these writers and works aren't necessarily fascist, but I think they could be easily included in a narrative in that sense:

- Plato, The Republic
- Thomas Hobbes, Leviathan
- Hegel, Philosophy of Right (even though Right Hegel is Wrong Hegel)
- Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Futurist Manifesto
- Any shit on social darwinism

also in the real world most fascism follow a nationalistic, traditionalist, racist narrative, but at the end of the day the narrative is contingent, it could be anything as long as it sustains and legitimizes the ruling order, so maybe you can play there and find an alternative narrative with similar results.

Pic related is a study of the psychological basis of almost all forms of modern extremism, which might be useful. Same author has several books which cover the same but are specifically related to fascism, including neo-fascist movements.

>interested in psychological basis of modern extremism
>posting some Chapters-Indigo-tier pop bullshit
>not posting Wilhelm Reich - The Mass Psychology of Fascism

but anyway, this line of investigation could just result in OP's narrative getting abstracted and wooden. OP should do what the first guy said and immerse themselves in fascist spaces, but read theory as a supplement/way of keeping the abyss from staring back too much. Ultimately, OP coming to insights of their own based on their own experience would be more interesting and productive than repeating someone else's.

I'm working on a similar thing right now, actually. Good luck, and may the best writer get published first!

Keep an eye on what made people join fascist ideologies, why they were attractive, and the context that produced them.

They did not simply decide to be the "bad guys of history".
You don't have to become a stormfag to study fascist ideas, you can keep a neutral or engaged in another direction point of view.

Yes, you also need immerse in spaces which think and act against fascism ideology. It's important to you know how the both sides think, then you can developer better your work.

I like your idea, OP. It's edgy in the actual good way.
