I just think that the question of whether or not we have free will is uninteresting. I perceive I'm responsible for my actions, so let it be. And as for the higher meaning, I have the right to believe that too; it doesn't have to mean God.

>> No.6479768

Does fate exist? Then free will cannot, but if there are multiple universes each of them the same as our own apart from one small difference is it not fate that our universive have that one small difference

>Anon, I'm sorry, but I just can't be friends with someone who seriously holds Barthes' Death of the Author in higher value to literary theory than Foucault's What Is An Author, which is undeniably the more precise assessment of the role of the author in criticism. But thanks for driving me to my date with Chad!

Imagine if you joined a philosophy discussion group at your university because you were tired of making no friends at school, and you showed up not really knowing what to expect at all, and somehow it was literally that room, with those exact girls, and you start freaking out but don't know what else to do so you just sit down and join in, and then it turns out they're all SUPER smart, like actual geniuses, like not just precocious but actually productive, fully-formed geniuses, and they let you into the group but start subtly and gently picking at you for being inferior in knowledge and ability, until finally you just stop talking altogether and sort of degenerate into the group's gofer, and finally one night one of them suggests in language you barely understand that since you're not good for much else you should just orally service them during the meetings, and you spend the next three years of your degree showing up twice a week to their philosophy roundtable to go down on all of them while they casually pass you around at their leisure and discuss esoteric matters literally over your head, until finally on the day of graduation, when the whole adventure is coming to an end, you wake up in a hospital bed and realise it was all a coma fantasy, that you were actually in a horrible accident the night you went to that first meeting, and that every part of your body is atrophied except your jaw, which is incredibly developed as if you had been using it constantly, and suddenly you realise that all the concepts they spoke of are now inside your brain and you are the next Plato, Kant, and Heidegger all in one, and that they were actually Muses
