It's probably the result of a higher up at a shitty publishing house trying to ride the wave of the mid 90s, where people knew everything is gonna be all digital and shit, but aesthetic was like that. That guy Pietro Nassetti is a faker, his name would appear in several of their books as the translator, even though the guy doesnt even exist. The editors would just put his name as the translator, so by accident they put his name in an edition of Machado, topkek.

I agree, L&PM is the best one considering price as the major element only. Hedra is pretty based but their catalogue still has a long way to go. Cia de Bolso unfortunately does not have a good catalogue of cheap classics.

Penguin is too anglo-based, but I recently bought the Iliad and Homer - it was expensive, like, 50 bucks each, but totally worth it.

As for Cia. de Bolso not having too many classics, yeah, part of their charm to me is how they publish more recent stuff, like Perec, Roth and Calvino (also, Companhia das Letras has the GOAT translators, tbh)
