So /lit/, have you already embraced the absurd?

>> No.680813

do we have a choice?

>> No.680816

...Ionesco.
Is that you?

>> No.680820

Embrace the absurd?

So, if we restrict this on aesthetics, OP basically wants a hug.

>> No.680825

>>680813
Yes, you can keep thinking there is a purpose.

>>680820
I wouldn't mind <(^_^)>

Hugs all round, then.
/lit/ gets a little bit icy nowadays.

THAT'S RIGHT, FUCKERS, TIME TO HUG.

>> No.680832

>>680825
I meant you must look absurd, therefore you want a hug when asking us if we have embraced the absurd yet.

But nevermind that. My inner 4channer wanted to insult without provocation in general, and in particular my inner e/lit/ist wanted to express that in the most obscure way.

Upon reading this, I envisaged you as a clean cut, sexy PhD student with nice glasses.

I hope to god so. I'm not hugging a neckbeard.

>> No.680841

>>680838
I don't wear glasses.
Other than that, close enough.

>> No.680849

>>680832
I was just looking for your opinions about the topic, but is not like it matters thought.

>> No.680854

>>680841
...not...a ... neckbeard?
Wow. /lit/, you've delivered, for once.
Hurrah.

>> No.680868

I'd like to think I have, but I wonder.
I still get up, brush teeth, eat breakfast, worry about rent, think of what to do, set aside leisure time etc. It's all very non-absurd.

Although within many of these processes there are lucid moments of impact, nay, absurdity, like the tree knot in 'la nausea', and I can't help but marvel at whatever it is I'm doing or looking at, as if it's some cog flung out from a grandfather clock fartassing around in deep space.

>> No.680878

sounds like self centered defeatism to me. absurd is an excuse for not caring

Fair enough,

>>680878
by reading some excerpts of The Myth of Sisyphus, I think is quite the contrary, the purpose of life is life itself

>> No.680913

>>680902
it's defeatism for having ideals in life, which is to say you are not seriously depressed enough to want to kill yourself, you just want to cling onto life without responsibilities. the guy that said bourgeois blah blah isn't far off.

So /lit/, have you already embraced Realpolitik?

meh.

Well, it's pretty obvious that the universe in general doesn't give a fuck about any of us, but I prefer Sartre's brand of Existentialism when he was just a philosopher...before we went all gay for Soviet Russia.

>> No.681652

>>680926
so, douchebag, have you ever read Justus Lipsius?

>> No.681673

>>681646
IIRC Satre died an anarchist

1967 The Stranger film adaptation

The film really captures the absurd; the court scenes are especially brilliant.
