This is probably not the right place to post this, but it is in some way related to the author and I need to vent it out somewhere.
After having postponed it for a while, I decided to watch Cronenberg's Naked Lunch yesterday night. I loved it, I didn't know about William S. Burroughs' troubled life and the tragic 'incident' that lead to his wife's death, which are quite explicitly portrayed in the movie. The movie also gave me a boost of inspiration, and after a couple cups of coffee I began writing hectically up until 6 AM, mostly about a lighthearted dialogue between two men trying to find their way out of a series of surreal dreamlands (I didn't save the file, so I lost it all, unfortunately)
This whole thing may have had a big impact on me, because I had the weirdest and most truculent dreams, which involved gruesome violence and sex, this morning. I woke up rather disoriented and went grab today's newspaper right away. I opened it up to a random page and what saw shattered my mind to pieces: an article about the investigation of the death of Burroughs' wife Joan Vollmer and the judicial process that followed; of course, Cronenberg's film was also mentioned in it. Out of the 50 or so pages that the newspaper had, and out of the myriads and myriads of articles that could have been written, I had to stumble upon that. I would have undoubtedly laughed maniacally I wasn't alone in the room. Imagine how I felt when upon entering /lit/ I found this thread.
I would have chalked it up to an odd coincidence if these sort of things didn't happen to me on a regular basis: farfetched coincidences, memories of places that don't exist and constant déjà vus, etc. This occurrence was the breaking point for me, I now have the crippling sensation that I may have gone full cuckoo.
