Anyone here read this book? Just picked it up yesterday, at around page 100 now. It isn't that great so far, I'm hoping it picks up during the expedition.

Discuss, I guess.

Brian Voss is the one pro-bowler that I really don't like. I mean it has nothing to do with his personality, but his rigidness at the fould line and his sponsorship by AMF (the most ghetto bowling company in the world) makes me dry heave thinking about him. Also what is up with the afro mullet? Does he go into a barbershop and ask for the chemical blow-out?

You won't find many people who've read it on the basis that nobody reads Australian literature outside of Reilly, Courtenay and Children's writers. If that.

It's a shame, but that's what cultural cringe; poor English education; a fucked up book retail market and publishing industry; and the annoying worship of Anglo-American culture does to our local literature.

I myself have only read the first 50 pages over a year ago before exams ruined my library borrowing. I've read Tree of Man though which was outstanding, though a bit slow going.

It doesn't seem to have any traits that distinguish it as Australian.

Take the name of the author off of the cover and I wouldn't even know that it was written by an Australian.

Just go on Book Depository or Abebooks or something.

From memory it mentions Sydney at the start.

Just by setting it in Australia it makes it Australian as hardly anyone actually sets books here.

That and I think there's a whole thing exploring European discovery, Australia as a country of cities fixated on "The bush" etc etc.

Smirth, I really dig Australian girls. That accent and the whole grubby Wild West feel to them...

Cara Honeychurch holding my 15 pound balls....

I would fuck every single Aussie girl I could just to hear her talk about how her clam got "wit". You live in a charmed continent.

American here. I recently went to Australia for vacation. I stayed 2 weeks in Sydney and one week in Brisbane. There was not a single night that I went to the hotel alone. Aussie girls seemed to love my accent. 4 women I was involved with were married but willing. Australian women seemed to want to give me not only one on one interaction, but sharing me with friends. Thirs thees Amircin you niid to si. Redheads all over the fucking place. I will visit oftin.

To you Aussies, yes you all sound like the letter "e" is replaced with the letter "i" to us. You may think it's just the kiwis, but you guys do it so much.

What I did notice is that your girlfirends and mothers had no problems asking me if I wanted to "stuff them in the can". Try pulling that shit on an American. Our women are not enamored with the idea of rectal sex, but Aussies seemed really willing to give up the dirt road with some spit and "push that ram in there--no need to spit on it" encouragement. Aussie girls are a little chunkier than I am used to, but they seem to be more willing. Dirtier. Abuseable.

Yeah it's probably just the clipped vowels in comparison to your elongated vows (trust me everyone of you says your "Mom" like "Mawwwwm".

And on the latter thing. Our greatest industry is mining - we're a country based around putting things and taking things out of holes.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the accent. It was just weird listening to it and taking any of you seriously because everything about your culture seemed to reflect the American Wild West, which was a period for usd that only lasted 50 years but seems to have lasted 150 years for you guys. And really, I like sweaty women. But for gods sake, let them know its OK to shower more than one day a week.

Anyway, is Voss an atheist too? He kind doesn't give a real answer. This has been kinda bugging me, as I can't figure it out.
