Path to Eden

It's set in a fantasy world that mirrors the early days on the industrial evolution, except "Britain" has control of "America" and "America" Is 2000 miles of desert, except for a land they call "Eden" that is on the other side of said desert.
The story follows a motley crew of hero's trying to survive the harsh wasteland on their quest to find a "Path to Eden"
Also slavery is still around.

It's probably the best idea for a novel that's in this thread. Just sayin.

If I caught my kid reading a book called Forever Sacrifice, even if he was just joking, I would punt the book into a river, toss him a rock and tell him to go fuck himself. I can't even believe this title came into your brain for one iota of a second. 'Forever Sacrifice.' More like 'Fucking Please Kill Me I'm Suffering And I Want To Be Dead Now Please'

That's just how it kind of turned out. There is a "book seven" in the sense that I've written about what happens AFTER, but VI is a pretty existential conclusion to everything, and I probably wouldn't actually "release" the contents of book seven, because it wouldn't seem as fitting of an ending.

It's a fantashit series that goes from steampunk to sci-fi horror to high fantasy. It's been pretty fun to work on, but with all the revisions I make I doubt it will ever see the light of day.

It's a Cyberpunk novel that from the outset, looks like derivative fiction (lots of Robocop, Children of Men, Neuromancer, Deus Ex, and various anime influences) but I use that setting to ask what freedom in America means to different people. Freedom of security, freedom of equality, freedom to be left alone, etc.

It's shit an pulpy but whatever, it's not getting published anyway.

Requiem for a/the (?) Witch (Two parts, 'Death' and 'Rebirth')
In a decaying country ravaged by the war of 'magic' versus 'science' decades ago, a princess is found, trapped in an encasing of ice. Discovered at the bottom of the ocean in one of the many sunken kingdoms (aftermath of the war), she turns out to be one of the last magic users after the decline of mages. Together with Bernard, an outcast with a knack for detective mysteries, they attempt to find out the 'Single, the Ultimate, the Truth' behind the war and a cruel witch with links to the war.

Turning of the Mystery
A nonlinear story focusing on the truth behind what happened within the 'Pluto Tragedy', in which a mass murder happens in a closed off school during a savage tsunami. It jumps between showing bits and pieces of what happened within the school on that day, to present time, in which the reader learns how the incident affected/still affects the victims' families and friends.

The River Campaigns.
Set in the SE united states after various and vague disasters have lowered the population by 60%. The SE has been depopulated due to tons of viruses coming out of the area. Its been termed the Tropical Disease Zone. After 20+ years of global lawlessness around the globe governments are begginning to get their shit together. The newly reorganized US federal government is trying to reabsorb the TDZ and is being resisted by a mysterious band of guerilla fighters led by a man named Paul.
The book follows Paul, and covers his past and present exploits in the TDZ. Paul is portrayed by his men as a righteous and moral man, and by his detractors as a dangerous sociopathic manchild prone to violent impulses.
The eponymous "The River Campaigns" is a text being compiled by one of Paul's followers who sees Paul as a reincarnation of Marcus Aurelius and believes that "the river campaigns" will be regarded by future generations as a sort of meditations.
The books plot is general pleb-tier war action, with Paul spouting bits of esoteric contradictory wisdom and lots of ecological commentary. The reader must decide if Paul is a manipulative fundamentalist warlord or if he is a military genius and philosopher. I'm really trying to describe what it's like to be swept up in a movement under a charismatic leader, and the consequences of elevating him to a god-like status. While Paul is clearly manipulative and capable of great violence, I also portray him as uncompromisingly moral and just. Paul is based on my father, a former high ranking military man who is probably the most intelligent and moral person I have ever met in my life, yet terrible things have happened to people left in his wake. Typing it out it sounds like shit, but I really like what I have so far.

I get that it's genre. And it probably is some tom clancy tier shit. Im no james joyce friend. But that doesn't stop it from being a decent story. The nugget is basically a terrorist/freedome fighter who thinks he's the next Marcus Aurelius and is obsessed with compiling his own meditations. He becomes so obsessed with leaving a legacy and forming an ideology that he loses sight of why he originally is fighting, and his men begin to turn against him as he sacrifices family, friendships, and his morals in his quest to find some kind of immortality. Think of Osama Bin Laden. He started off as a resistance fighter. By his men he was seen as this infallible leader who was never wrong. By the west he was seen as a violent maniacal sociopath. What went wrong? Where did he lose sight of his original goal and became obsessed with slaying his dragon? What did it cost him? I'm not sure if it's making any sense tbh. I don't think it'll ever get published but I really enjoy reading it and the few people I've let read it have enjoyed it as well. Idk mang.

i don't actually know what either of those are I'm assuming brand names but actual rhythm of the words is good and they sound interesting in terms of cadence. plus i like the connotations of 'astro' as star and 'quill' as pen as if you are writing your 'memoir' on the stars or a process of immortalisation so to speak

Astroglide and Nyquil is what I jokingly wrote on my journal while I was in the army. Astroglide because we once bought out a shelf at Wal-Mart and lined up a whole barracks hallway and got hammered and slid around,on it (homoerotic as fuck) and Nyquil because we used to buy the big bottles and pass it around the cargo bay of the c130 on plane rides or long bus rides. It ended up kind of becoming our companies motto.

Some context, The River Campaigns is a memoir that is transcribed by one of Paul's followers. It's a story of his life, but he uses it to frame his ideology. Paul was born in the area he currently operates in, but was shanghaied into a mercenary army after they attack a fema camp he was interred in. much later he returns and launches his insurrection.
Rivers are a recurring motif in the book. The new government (feds) lost all their satellites and advanced tech during "the troubles." they use a strategy similar to Vietnam where they use fast attack boats to attack Paul's forces and set up beachheads/outposts along the complex river system since the roads are fucking useless. To avoid detection Paul (who is an expert sailor) and his men become infamous for using lightweight fiberglass racing boats to swiftly and silently attack the outposts in nighttime raids. Let me know what you guys think. :)

>Rawr. Wonder what this is about?

It’s a first person narrative, a diary written in prison. The book will have a preface and a postscript written by fictional psychiatrists (like in Lolita), speaking of the value of the book as a human document and a internal image of the mind of a gifted, but immoral man.

The author was a nobleman from a wealthy family (several generations of owners of land and cattle, with relations to the army), with a great intelligence and family connections. His father is a powerful man in the army. When the military gives a coup d'état and destitute the president of Brazil of his power, a great court is instituted to give functions to every member.

The father of our protagonist (and author of the memories) is responsible for the jailhouses of the country, but he ends up dying, and his young son takes his place. By now around the age of 20, the young man has a degree in medicine and a great interest in arts and sciences. He accepts the nomination of his dying father and the votes of the council.

Now, seeing himself as the chief of the jails of the country, he proceeds to work on all the files, and select the criminals who he thinks deserve to die and those that are simply immoral and not dangerous. He organizes a great central prison that functions like Auschwitz: all the major criminal are taken there (sometimes with few instances of due process of law) and most of them promptly executed. Some of the most dangerous and most interesting criminals are guarded in especial sells and used by the protagonist to make long conversations (the interesting ones, the intelligent ones), but the tortures and really evil criminal are submitted to several degrees of torture (for example: a drug-dealer who killed several families is forced to watch his sun – also a young drug-dealer – be killed in front of him with several injections of narcotics).

Eventually the U.N. invades Brazil and the regime falls. The heads are judged in some sort of new Nuremberg Trials. In prison, the protagonist writes his memories. In the trials, he mocks and scorns the judges, all the time arrogantly showing his superior intelligence and stating that he knows he will be killed.

The notebook ends some days before his execution. He wonders if he did the right thing, if the act of murdering millions of criminals actually made the world more clean. He tries to imagine what Hitler felt like when he was trapped in his bunker. He says that, had he followed a carrear in math and married a girl that he loved, had he stayed out of politics, he might end up being happy after all.

The postscript tells us that he was hanged, and that he named his manuscript with the nickname the press had given him after all the scandal of the military regime broke out: “The Monster”.
