ITT: Best Children's Series Ever

PIC VERY RELATED

>> No.743964

The End was a big, huge FUCK YOU to everybody who was following this series.

Daniel Handler really dropped the ball, or intentionally fucked with people's expectations.

What can I say, though? There was no way such brilliance could have lasted to the end.

Penultimate Peril should have been the plot for book 13, and just had everyone die in the fire. Would have satisfied me.

I would say the same for A.A. Milne.
Totally underrated.

Dude, Winnie the Pooh was my bro when I was three years old.

He's still my bro. He taught me that it was okay to eat lots of food.

I never liked the Disney cartoons, though.

That shit don't even count in my book.
Way too heavy for kids.

But by school library standards, it should receive much praise here. It changed my life.

Gay movie.

Any one ever notice how much feature film potential the Goosebumps series has?

For example:
Calling all Creeps is scary as shit.
Swear to god, if Troma bought up the rights to this trove, Lloyd Kaufman would be a rich man.

Troma is the only director who could handle goosebumps and make it not suck.

However Troma is also for lack of a better word very much "adult" humor, something the Goosebump series lacked. I'm not sure how many parents would actually want to take their kids to a Troma film.

Not at all too heavy for kids. I read it when I was 10-11 and I can't imagine what my early teen years would have been like had I read it at a later age. It was pretty integral in shaping views that I've developed regarding sexuality and religion (and not just in the 'religion is evil and terrible' way), yet it was presented in a form that can truly enthrall a child.

Of course, I missed many layers of meaning throughout it, but that's what re-reading when you get older is for.

>> No.744193

Holy fuck YES the Tale of Samuel Whiskers. That was my very favorite story when I was really young (and among the first that I actually read to myself). I've been tossing around the idea of a Tom Kitten tattoo for a couple years now, which sounds faggotty but I'm a girl so it's okay.
