Pan-europeanism only based on geographic location and skin color. These pan movements in general are very superficial classifications. For example, Nigeria and Ethiopia have zero relevance to one another in history, culture, religion, language yet they are lumped together in "pan-africanism" because both are geographically located on the same continent and both are black.

As for Pan-europeanism, the only thing they really share together across the board is ideas of 1. religion and 2. laws and government, which originated with the greeks/romans. Besides that, europe in general is a very different place when you compare one end to another. You put a portugese man in a room with an estonian and they will look at each other in indifference.

"White" basically doesn't and never has existed. You're talking about people coming from vastly different backgrounds that have historically not identified with one another.

in the 1700s or so, a French person wouldn't look at an English person and think because they both were white, they were the same. They actually saw eachother as inhuman as many whites see blacks now.

Same goes for just about any european culture. There's massive differences between latins/non latins, chatholic/protestant, and that isn't even talking about the differences from country to country.

The protestant, anglos of America would laugh if you called the Irish or italians as white equals to them up until the 1970s or so. My mom even talks about how she wasn't allowed to associate with catholic kids, even if they were white, in her day.

White was shaky invention of the early slave days, in order to calm down the white slaves (servants) who were the most troublesome, and frequently revolted. They tried to stoke their ego by saying how superior they were to the black permanent slaves, and how they could eventually be freed one day (even though most werent) in order to settle their asses down.

Didn't actually work though, and they just went to all black, permanent slavery, yet the whole white idea stuck somehow.
