There's nothing like it. All my life I've preferred having women as friends for this reason. I agree male energy is necessary to a degree, and I should probably get more of it, but I rarely if ever come across a male who I have the desire to start a friendship with. I think part of it might be guys are more set in their ways. So if you're not a "typical" guy there's not going to be much compatibility. Meanwhile the girl/guy dynamic is a much more adaptable and compatible one I think. There's a reason guys marry women and not men.

If you want more examples then there are fraternities of all kinds (before you mention sororities, there are significantly more fraternities than sororities). This is getting a little anecdotey again but I find fraternities at my uni are way more loyal to each other as opposed to sororities who are more prone to turn on each when they feel a personally ideal has been broken.
