I know there's one of these threads every goddamn day, but I wanted to thank the anon who gifted me Deathbird Stories. I also wanted him to know that I've already paid it forward by buying someone Altered Carbon last night. That said, I'm totally up for partaking in another gift thread. So get in here, guys, and post yer wishlists already! I'm feeling kinda generous (and little bit tipsy).

Have you seen
THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE?
Well, it's an excellent children's disney movie which i loved as a kid. Basil of Baker Street is the book that inspired the movie

The quality really isn't that good, but they do have the entire thing on youtube.

It was definitely my favorite of those Disney movies they had.
Even watching it now, 20 years later, I still find that it's an excellent movie. It's a lot darker than what you would think a typical "disney" movie would be.

E-mail sent!

To whom it may concern,

I'm writing to suggest a feature for your website, due to a number of people brining it to my attention.

The wishlist function you have is a great resource for many customers, but is lacking in one important feature; the ability to purchase for someone else directly through the site.

I'm suggesting this primarily because I, like many others, purchase most of my books on the internet, however i'm never too pleased about using Amazon's wishlist service just to purchase gifts

Were you to implement this new feature it could very well generate a new revenue stream. There are quite a number of people growing increasingly frustrated with Amazon's charges, but cannot currently use your service as a viable alternative.

If this feature were to be implemented, I would most certainly use it on a near regular basis for close friends and family. I'm sure many others would do the same.

I hope you'll consider this as a realistic suggestion for the improvement of your site.

Kind Regards,
*Anon* (Did not actually sign off as anon)

Much obliged. I read his short stories first and really loved his writing style. Most of his 'children's stories' were depressing as fuck though.

I've been reading Dorian Gray during my morning commutes and I absolutely love the dialogue. Even though Lord Henry has some of my favorite lines/quotes I still think he's one of the most evil characters I've ever read about. It's so sad what he did to Dorian. When he killed Basil I legitimately hated him.

Lots of classics on there. I personally wasn't a huge fan of Crime and Punishment but loved most of Nabokov's stuff. Lolita was very VERY good.

I'm kind of broke right now so I can't buy you anything but I can toss out a recommendation. I found that Robert Louis Stevenson's short story 'Markheim' was very similar in themes to Crime and Punishment and I enjoyed it a lot more than I did C&P (though to be fair I studied C&P in school and that always makes you like a novel less).

Also love The Code of the Woosters. I've only watched the TV Series "Jeeves and Wooster" with Hugh Laurie in it but I adore the characters.

I do not have a wishlist and am not asking for anything, so don't think I'm sucking up by what I'm about to say.

Because of things like this, /lit/ really is one of the nicest places here on 4chan. I'm glad we don't have a massive userbase, and it's good that the majority of the users here are more mature than those in some of the other boards.

I'm living in Australia, so could any Australians please let us know, incase I, or other users from here would like to partake. I'd look at your list, and buy it from bookdepository.co.uk, if it's possible... Amazon charges a shitload for international delivery...

Holy shit, I didn't realize I have the most controversial wish list in this thread. There's a thread about replacing words in book titles right now, and I get "kill yourself" for reading the economist. I love /lit/.

It's not about the Economist, it's just sort of ridiculous to expect someone to shell out that much cash for a stranger.

You should make your /lit/ list a bit more friendly.

No, you're catching shit because you're asking for a $100+ gift. Be reasonable man.

I said it last night and I'll say it again: We are kind anons, not your relatives. We buy books that cost maybe $20 at most, not a fucking kindle or a year's subscription to a magazine.

Really? Can you not see how that's a little rude asking stranger for that much generosity? If you can't, then at least look at other people's wishlists and notice the precedent. No one else is asking for gifts with that much value.

Right. These threads are trash man. If you really, really want a book: Go to a library. And for those of you who don't have access to libraries, just torrent the books or borrow them from a friend. And if you don't have friends? It still doesn't give you enough reason to go begging over the internet.

God, at least admit that a frog is a frog. That's what irritates me the most, why not post "Buy me a book for free thread" like it is. Doesn't sound so nice, eh?

Yay! I'm being called a scammer again.

Nevermind that I've spent about $100 I don't have in the last 3 days for no reason real reason except to spread goodwill. Nevermind that I've received 5 books and bought almost 3 times as many. Nevermind that I've tried to fill my list with the cheapest copies possible, many of which cost 1 cent and most of which are less than $10. Nevermind that I probably couldn't sell that shit back for a profit if I tried.
