Is this true? Do we really need philosophy today?

true

we need redpilled science, not postmodernism

If by "redpilled" you mean "right-wing", then beware that STEM offers exactly zero insight in social and political issues.

I obviously asked the question in a provocative way.

FACTS, and OBJECTIVE REALITY and RACE REALISM are right-wing by necessity. The left rejects objective TRUTH and OBJECTIVE REALITY.

>FACTS, and OBJECTIVE REALITY and RACE REALISM are right-wing by necessity

this is such an uneducated claim that i do not know where to start. the first thinkers of the enlightenment were anti-religious, anti-authoritarian revolutionaries. while the philosophers behind fascism were rosseau, heidegger and evola, all romantics and/or in favor of subjectivism.

>The left rejects objective TRUTH and OBJECTIVE REALITY.

the postmodernists, the "new left", often is. the marxists, on the other hand, were hegelian rationalists.

e. g., there is no clear "left" or "right" philosophical thinking. both the left and the right drew from enlightenment and counter-enlightenment thinking, from romanticism and rationalism.

No, I am drunk so I probably won't explain it properly but Foucault pretty definitively showed that science itself is ideologically driven, and can potentially destroy empirical progress in shifts of concern, hiding truth under the new layers and lenses of modernity.

he said psychiatry is a power structure used by the state to regulate the nation, which is largely true; you can see it easily in the numerous revisions of the DSM. A lot of the more begin disorders are simply undesirable traits for a productive nation.

that wasn't foucault, that was foucault piggy-backing off of nietzsche, who in turn was taking a position opposite kant. all kant wanted to do was find some form of philosophical stability after hume, so really really, it all comes down to hume. thank you hume.
