I liked the film, I like books in general. Is it worth reading?

IN-CON-CEIVABLE!

I'll come right out and say it (anonymously): I like the book a lot more than the movie. I felt like it expanded the narrative in all the right places; the background vingettes on Inigo and Fezzik are terrific additions for example.

The book is far better than the movie. You'll enjoy it, without a doubt.

Yes. It's awesome. It plays with the storyteller-story bit just like the movie, but in booky way.

why would you want to read a book about a princess bride? that sounds gay dude

The William Goldman book is hilarious cover to cover and out-does the movie at every turn.

Make sure you get the 'Just the Good Parts' edition. Frankly all that other nonsense about Guilder and Floren history, and character lineages is just boring.

Right, I'll keep an eye out.

And now I know.

Okay, I cheated and read the Wikipedia entry to get the full story. Nicely done.

While we're at it, anything vaguely similar I may want to read into?

Really? I have to admit I didn't even consider those... but then again, in principle I don't have a problem with pulps.
