The old penguin modern classics with pale turquoise spines are my favourite. Some of the Faulkner novels in my high school library had these covers, and they left quite an impression.

Indeed. The structure has never been a problem for me, it was for the most part a silly gimmick, most chapters could have been easily removed without detriment to the work.
I hated some dialogues so much, they were like this:
Oh, I just finished my tea. Damm, it is so hot, it reminds me of (poet)
Nah, you gotta remind what (philosopher) said about it. And through the concept of (linguist) about the X
Well, it waa better said, more poetically said, I should say, in the works of the Chinese philosopher

....
There were so many silly dialogues like these. Nobody talks like that, it does not matter how erudite they may be.

Anyway, I expressed my discontent with this novel many times here and most people tend to make up excuses for how boring the book can be, thanks for being reasonable.

I found my mother's copy of this as a child on one of the old bookshelves in the house and it was what first got me into philosophy (through the content) and art (through the book cover), both of which I ended up studying at university. I guess now I come to think of it that little book has unironically had a central role to play in the course of my life.

I always thought the intent of those dialogues worked well with the book. Because of the format and the flipping around you are intentionally made extremely conscious of the book-ness of the text, it doesn't really try to take you in its world per se. The conversation seem to be there to make you hyper aware of how book-ish, hyper-literate, and ultimately how unreal they are.

Found this in my local market for about 25 cents. Ultimately I got it for free because no one bought those books and the seller just wanted to get rid of them. The book is itself is really meh but the cover looks good.

I posted three great images of three great books and no onr has praised me or expressed any good feelings towards these covers( some guys liked over 10 covers here).
I come here every 20 minutes to see if the quality of what I post has been acknowledged, but it is useless: /lit/ is full of people that can't recognize beauty or intelligence.
