Which is embodied and perfected in the Abrahamic faith so.. there goes that theory.

Absolutely based, friend. I am an adherent of Hinduism which is most definitely Platonism from the angle of Consciousness rather than Forms, but these two philosophies are most definitely one. I'm glad another here sees this fact. I follow Jesus too but no Old Testament "morality", you feel me? The former philosophies let us become the ones who escape Plato's cave, while Abrahamism makes us its prisoners.

I exempt Jesus from this, however, who anyone will gain much wisdom from reading into and striving to be like.

Because Christian authors are equipped with one of the artists greatest tools: the suffering of repression. They are constantly swallowing and reswallowing a most unsavoury truth - that truth being their God’s nonexistence, and their life’s ultimate meaningless. And yet they continue to swallow harder, over and over, until they almost choke. This perpetual state of dissonance, the rejection of a reality part of them knows to be real, often leads to the creation of great art. Whenever someone talks about the ‘soul’ of a piece - the ‘spirit’ of the writer etc., this is the thing that they are actually perceiving in the work.

Here are some notes from the Blessed Henry Suso on temporal suffering on Earth from his little book of Wisdom.

>Suffering is a safeguard against grievous faults:
>Makes a man know himself, rely on himself and have faith in his neighbor
>keeps the soul humble and teaches patience
>is the guardian of purity and confers the crown of eternal salvation
>purges the soul as fire purges iron and purifies gold
>chastises the body which at any rate must rot away but it nourishes the noble soul which shall endure forever

God gives these afflictions to the one's he loves the most. Look at people who have not suffered. They hollow, ungrateful and self-centered. This is why Christ says it's harder for a rich man to go to heaven than a Camel to pass through the eye of a needle. It is not a condemnation of his material wealth but his self-centered, comfortable life. The comfortable life of ease caused him to fill his soul with possessions instead of what is important to God. Life is more than meat, life is more than comfort.

Evil exists uninterrupted in our world. This is a fact that all Christian's accept, for all (save the lunatics) don't deny our reality. Of course, you're merely pointing to the problem of evil, which philosophers have given up on and which theologians have been forced to concede ignorance towards. For believers, there must be faith that God's reasons for noninterference are just, and for nonbelievers, the suffering of this world simply cannot be reconciled. This inability to reconcile the cruelty and misery of the world is the root cause of "atheists who are angry at God."

"This poor child of five was subjected to every possible torture by those cultivated parents. They beat her, thrashed her, kicked her for no reason till her body was one bruise. Then, they went to greater refinements of cruelty -- shut her up all night in the cold and frost in a privy, and because she didn't ask to be taken up at night (as though a child of five sleeping its angelic, sound sleep could be trained to wake and ask), they smeared her face and filled her mouth with excrement, and it was her mother, her mother did this. And that mother could sleep, hearing the poor child's groans! Can you understand why a little creature, who can't even understand what's done to her, should beat her little aching heart with her tiny fist in the dark and the cold, and weep her meek unresentful tears to dear, kind God to protect her? Do you understand that, friend and brother, you pious and humble novice? Do you understand why this infamy must be and is permitted? Without it, I am told, man could not have existed on earth, for he could not have known good and evil. Why should he know that diabolical good and evil when it costs so much? Why, the whole world of knowledge is not worth that child's prayer to dear, kind God'! I say nothing of the sufferings of grown-up people, they have eaten the apple, damn them, and the devil take them all! But these little ones! I am making you suffer, Alyosha, you are not yourself. I'll leave off if you like."

"Nevermind. I want to suffer too," muttered Alyosha.

Pretty much this. God is loving and yet terrible suffering occurs. How do we reconcile this? I'm not sure we know how to. But if we put that aside for a moment, and just look at our actual situation, we realise something. Namely, that no suffering can ever deprive us of God Himself, who, after all, is all Goodness. In fact, it is through suffering that we come close to Him. None of this world will make sense until the next one. But we can rest assured, despite all the unanswered suffering, that Christ is with us as we pass through the dark.

Evil in the world does not mean God is evil or imperfect. I struggled with thoughts like yours but the analogy of the vase helped me reconcile fall from goodness and God's omnipotent goodness. A craftsman can make the most perfect vase yet, the vase, like all vases can be broken and become imperfect. Yet this doesn't mean the craftsman was imperfect. This analogy is basically based off St Augustine's apologies I'd suggest reading the Confessions by him to better grasp how evil in the world and God can be reconciled.
Anyway, faith which will pierce your heart cannot come from rational discourse. Faith, as Kierkegaard declared, lies in the subjective.
