I feel you. I've been working on compiling reports from government documents and they started to contradict each other really quickly. They were reports by different water districts on funding for a particular project, and they all had different calculations on how much was being provided by this one district because they all had different methods of accounting for payment installments and long term interest. I had to inform the project managers on how much money they were getting from the districts and had no fucking idea of what to tell them.

Honestly I am immeasurably let down by the lack of passion the people here have for their subjects. I know that most people dont really care about this stuff, but I was hoping it would be different at Oxford and its just now. The people here are just normal young people, nice enough and fiendishly intelligent, but all lacking any sort of coherent drive to do anything except get their degree and leave

Don't drop out. Finish the degree and get as high a GPA as possible. One more measly year of suffering will enhance your post-graduation loafing potential by 10x. It's infinitely easier to be a loafer with a decent BA/GPA from a highly regarded university. The kinds of sinecures you can get, even if you only plan to hop from easy job to easy job for the rest of your life, will be much better at the baseline, just because you have the degree. Invest in your loafing, don't sell yourself short.

>>12316078
Can you talk to academic advisers at all and try to get the lay of the land? The more research you do, the more you might stumble upon strange avenues you might not have thought possible. I know tons of people who transferred, for example, from a community college to a "better" (read: looks better on a resume) university, and from there to a prestigious graduate school.

>options were limited financially
This is exactly how this country has committed cultural and social suicide. No better way to hobble your nation than to create arbitrary (e.g., wealth-based) choke points in its meritocracy. In terms of personal bildung, it won't hold you back at all, but there are so many people in this country who simply give up on being part of their own nation's civic life because college is considered a luxury for the rich and the only alternative is anonymity and atomization.

The content itself is interesting. I really enjoy the problem solving aspect of it and there's a lot of interesting concepts and decisions made by judges. While not necessary, reading some of the more seminal judgements can be very interesting.

My main problem with law is the actual practice. It's not a horrible job, but the Big 6 law firms I clerked at are very demanding and they expect a lot out of you. There really isn't much of a work/life balance at the big commercial law firms. For some people, that's okay but I can't manage it. From what I understand, boutique law firms and the public service are better in that regard and so I'm trying to get my foot in the door there now.

I was exaggerating when I said not to do it. There are far, far worse career paths out there and it is an intellectually engaging degree.

Psychology is fine though, i dont mind listening to peoples hang ups and relating with peoples circumstances. I'll probably end up working on an indian reserve so it'll be mostly alcoholism and abuse cases i bet. If not that i'll probably work with mental health patients in the city.

Nah unfortunately, I graduated back in '15. I'm at UCL now.

I really miss being able to leisurely walk to lectures in the countryside, instead of having to take the rush-hour tube to get to my 9 A.M.s

I also miss Firehouse pizza and wine :'(

If you go to business school afterwards, don't go to a French one. My sister went to LSE for her Bsc and then to ESCP for her MIM, and she was tremendously disappointed by the quality (or lack thereof) of French higher education compared to her time in the UK.

All these shitty Amerishart "colleges" arguing among themselves

The wooden entrance door to my college (and yes, an actual constituent college of a collegiate university) predates the USA by at least 500 years. Sad!

Thank our bullshit governments constantly cutting education funds for the last 20 or so years

We have some genuinely excellent scholarship talents here, but our best and brightest are forced to leave the country because there's just no point in trying an academic career here

I really love my uni and its tradition, but I too will probably be forced to leave the country at some point to continue my studies

Eh, I feel sorry too, but that's the sad state of affairs. Actually there are some universities here that are actually pretty good for what I want to study (neurosciences) but they're all private and very costly, so I'd need to go through some hoops to manage to study there
