I want to read more non-fiction. It feels like all I read is fiction & philosophy.

Please post non-fiction works you enjoyed.

the great man perspective isn’t simply that the person be morally good. You could easily include hitler and Stalin (inb: edgy they did nothing wrong though) in a great man perceive. It’s simply that the people be influencal wich a lot of terrible people undeniably are. The issue I have with this lens of history is how
a: how crucial an understanding of the general mainstream zeitgeist is to, as they are just as important a force in history. After all what is a king without loyal subjects
And
B: how often ‘greatness’ is equalitied with the embodiment time period itself or a reaction to it. This makes it not only easier to moralize entire segments of history and there for may leave lots of room for bias, but I also ignores the notion that ‘greatness’ itself is defined by just how unique and vital many of the views of great men are. Ie if you see Leonardo Da Vinci as representational of the entirety of renaissance Italy, then your ignoring the views of the nine wealthy citizens, and your assigning Leonardo’s talent to his era rather than a personal motivation. Of course the two are often inseparable but that doesn’t mean there conflatable

Zizek and Peterson should debate stuff outlined in this book, in my opinion. Playing the blame game on manchildren is just lazy thinking. Unfortunately it's what the academic establishment is doing right now, and it doesn't help anyone.

Anything by Friedman, Hayek and Sowell would be a good start.
