What are some really good long short stories? I'm curious about the best examples of this. The ones in that 7-15k word range like Melville's 'Bartleby, the Scrivener,' Balzac's 'Sarrasine,' Bierce's 'An Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge,' James' 'The Real Thing, etc. Not quite a novella but much longer and more in depth than your average short story.
