>I often find it so difficult to find bookshelves I'm happy with. The shelves are always either too deep, or too tall. So much wasted space. And they're usually either really expensive for something I'm not completely happy with, or they're poor quality (one shelf collapsed under the weight of my TPBs! So I built my own, with subtly increasing shelf sizes to fit a range of books. Sizes are 20cm x 2, 23cm x 2, 25cm x 2. I know this is only something simple, but I'm very happy. Now just to fill it up!

Uncreased spines are very disturbing qualities in books to your average il/lit/erati, who yearns to demonstrate nicely creased and cracked "definitely perused and totally not pseud" paperback spines more than he wants to actually read the very pages they hold together.

>> No.13354465

Spine cracking is one thing that can be avoided, but the idea you're going to keep every single book in pristine condition is a total fantasy. Wear and tear is inevitable on at least some of your books if you're an avid reader (just carrying one in your rucksack can fray the edges of the spine). What do you think is more likely, that a shelfposter is a voracious reader who is autistic enough to keep all his books in ziplock bags, or that the people who post in shelfthreads are more concerned about flexing than actually reading? think about it logically m8
