>uselessness
Why would you feel that?

I love that this is considered a normal reaction; capitalism has conditioned humanity into believing that everyone has an equal opportunity (we don't) so if you fail in any way it's all your fault (it's not). You aren't useless, the system is just broken.

mass layoffs company-wide, but that yesterday and figured I was safe, except walked in this morning and no one talking to me until my boss comes up half an hour later and hands me my papers.

My nickname in high school was "useless" I've been trying to escape that for years and even moved cities to avoid it, hence why I ended up where I am today. I got in a fairly mid-level job, had to take some adjustments but boss didn't appreciate that and figured I was dead weight.

You put out a thousand resumes and never get any replies other than the standard "thanks for applying but..." and when you finally land one, trying to make a better life for yourself everything goes to shit.

Why yes indeed there too many useless people, the earth is full of them. And you were always one of them.

It was a corporate office, rather than the smaller direct work I was doing before, having to get used to measures and procedures that were expected. As well moving to a new city where I don't really know anyone and having to navigate that aspect.

stop feeling bad for yourself and find a new job. this is an opportunity to do something else you may actually find interesting instead of wageslavery.

I had a job interview today.
They called me less than 3 hours later to tell me a hard 'no but thanks'.
I went to the library and got some books then came home and read Paul Tremblay's "The Cabin At The End Of The World".
It was okay. Sort of made me want to kill myself but then I already wanted to do that.

I was let go from my job recently too and although I have come to abandon all future aspirations I've still read three books in the last five days added a solid chunk to my book despite heavy drinking.
