Daily reminder that people who unironically read philosophy books are low IQ pseuds. You always see the fedoracore wannabe STEM majors in public reading 900 pages of the most boring shit ever as an attempt to look smart to other people because they know they'll never look attractive or charismatic.

Type of niggas to use the word "whereupon."
Type of niggas to do math by abacus.
Type of niggas to call women "me'lady"

They cram as many ten dollar words into two cent thoughts as possible and call themselves insightful. Imagine the absolute audacity!

It’s true
I was on the subway the other day and saw some 150+kg monstrosity wearing cargo shorts while reading Plato. I leaned over and whispered to him “ay yo, how many bitches do you think that Plato nigga fucked?”
He ignored me at first, but after repeating myself two or three times he sighed indignantly and moved seats.

Well the people you are describing are insufferable. Reading a particular book does not correllate with this, it just makes you retarded. If you want to shit on philosophy, improve your reading comprehension to a communicable level and understand that you're not reading the pictures at mcdonalds anymore.

You think philosophers talk gibberish because you are the one who speaks gibberish and even worse you only speak about nothing but to shoot the shit, so when you read something that requires visualization, empathy, and comprehension of context, you feel like you're reading gibberish.

STEM is a meme field filled with people who have no interest in science or engineering and do it because of pressures to make money or be respected. Abandoning it in college was one of the best decisions I made. Fuck you if you laugh at a Literature degree, my passion should not be ignored to make center stage for something I don't care about.

>> No.13972507

>>13972492
And my passion for a certain field in STEM is dishonest? I have real interests and I'm pursuing it to do research in a certain area, not because of recognition (which I sure as hell won't get). It might have worked for you and I'm glad you're following your dreams but not every person shares the same mindset. I still read literature on a daily basis and I find the entire ordeal fulfilling

>STEM is a meme field filled with people who have no interest in science or engineering
In college, a lot of guys are. They rarely survive out in the real world, as it takes a decent bit of autism to function as a stemfag on some level of self-realization. Stem faggots are born/turned into during formative years, it has awfuly little to do with education as such - you most normies frequently think you can *teach* people autism. Guess you were one of the pretenders you so eagerly deride all along?

>> No.13972530

>>13972507
What really made me dislike STEM was the culture of it. Obviously there are people like you who are passionate about the field, but you cannot deny that it is like medicine or law in that it is overly sold as a superior field. While I know the OP is obvious bait, I still despise the sentiment that there are people who actually do shame people for getting certain degrees or even dropping out of college.
I would assume that as you get further into studies more people like me would not pursue it, so your pupils eventually improve in quality.

>> No.13972538

>>13972526
It was more of awaking to what I cared about. My point, which I agree is impossible to see in my vitriolic rant, is that I hate that people feel pushed as I did into STEM, not that the whole field itself is shitty. Pretty much all of my friends are STEM majors or graduates, to use the "I have black friends" argument to validate my statement.

I abandoned STEM for one of the safer Liberal Arts fields and I completely agree. The people in my previous major were so full of themselves and entitled. All they would talk about is how difficult and noble their studies are compared to everyone else’s and the funny part is that wasn’t even true. Liberal Arts was actually harder. They also weren’t that intelligent. STEM people were definitely smarter than average person, but they were still normie level smart. They only knew how to regurgitate lots of information from a textbook or from what a professor told them. When it came to abstract thought or even just having an intelligent conversation, they failed.

This isn't true at all. I work with doctors every day (I do research at a hospital). Their lives are completely outside their control for the most part, they work insane hours and are beholden to the whims of the hospital.

>On call this week, working 80 hours so I can't celebrate my son's birthday

They probably do make lots of money but it's an extremely intense job. If you love it then that's great, but it will consume your life. I prefer to separate my job and my life.

Yeah I was a liberal arts / STEM double major and I agree with your assessment.

Most STEM students are hardworking normies of average intelligence and above-average organizational skills. They can work well within the confines of a system but rarely have the creativity to see outside of it. They pride themselves on being effective little cogs, and generally are logical thinkers with inflated egos.

Liberal Arts students are a more motley crew but generally more creative and open-minded. However, they tend to be disorganized and a good portion of them are simply too lazy to produce good work. They might also be prone to magical or illogical thinking.

You can find brilliant people in either field but I enjoy hanging out with liberal arts people more. Less pretentious, more fun conversations.
