Have you heard of the Law of One? There's unironically a part in there where RA, the entity collective being channeled, says that a certain class of higher-density souls termed "Wanderers" are presently incarnate in lower, 3rd-density form, to help with an ongoing "planetary ascension". It says these individuals will often end up with certain defects, and I think that autism may be one of them. So yes, it may possibly be. Or simply what a higher dimensional being resembles when incarnate in a lower plane, but not a next step for humanity itself. But that's coming in a different manner.
