OH FUCK YES! I just got a full time job at a local used book store! Much better then my current part time job at a local video store.
I'm really excited. Just the SMELL of all those books is awesome, and I'll get to go there every day. Yeah I'll have to alphabetize and stock, but I'm looking foreword to it.

I've worked at the video store for 3 1/2 years. Still in an entry position, still getting payed shit. At least here have a chance at advancement. Plus it's full time so I'll have enough money to warrant a savings account.

Thank you.

Maybe in the first year or two sure, but when you start teaching managers how to do parts of their job, and have been there longer then 80% of the other employees...

I love used bookstores but lawd do I hate the smell of old books. Makes me feel like I'm in a crypt

>> No.1431472

look up that essay by George Orwell where he talks about the horror of working in a second-hand bookstore. you get old ladies wandering in, snarling "I want that book I saw here twenty-two years ago, but I want a green cover and not a blue one. The book was right over there."

I take offense at that as a Grave Sexton

That's the appeal to me. College Library storeroom and the like are awesome.
A Friend of mine has a grandpa who has an entire storage shed just for all his books. It's dry and warm and I love it in there.

I get that are the video store I work at now.
