In 2019, I usually just laugh at people who are still religious. People who are religious in the current year are people who've never honestly considered the metaphysical implications of religion, either because they're too stupid to see the contradictions or cognitive dissonance is no deterent. How can you possibly reason with anyone who will ignore reality for peace of mind.

As far as I can tell, there is a small core of unironic Christians on /lit/ who randomly show up and shit up threads with their inane beliefs. They are enabled by a much larger group of posters who are basically deists and whose main concern is differentiating themselves from reddit fedora wearers. To this end they will label whatever metaphysics they believe in "God", regardless of how little it resembles a deity as commonly understood, then argue with atheists but not Christians.
Of course that's just my own reading of the population here; it's pretty hard to model people's complete worldviews based on anonymous fragments of thought.
