It takes awhile for some words to become naturalized. It took me almost forever to grasp the full-on natures of both 'censure' and 'sanction' which I remember looking up over and over again fwr.

Don't think of the definition as the meaning of the word. Look up the uses of the word, and think of the definition as an explanation of the uses.

I've checked the word ιταμός at least 20 times. I've come across it in speech/text maybe thrice, but the word just keeps popping in my head at random every once in a while so I then often go to check its meaning.
