>God is the greatest experience in human existence

>> No.14652372

117:6.10.
All true love is from God, and man receives the divine affection as he himself bestows this love upon his fellows.
Love is dynamic.
It can never be captured; it is alive, free, thrilling, and always moving.
Man can never take the love of the Father and imprison it within his heart.
The Father's love can become real to mortal man only by passing through that man's personality as he in turn bestows this love upon his fellows.
The great circuit of love is from the Father, through sons to brothers, and hence to the Supreme.
The love of the Father appears in the mortal personality by the ministry of the indwelling Adjuster.
Such a God-knowing son reveals this love to his universe brethren, and this fraternal affection is the essence of the love of the Supreme.

117:6.11.
There is no approach to the Supreme except through experience..

The Practice of the Presence of God: The Best Rule of Holy Life
being Conversations and Letters of Brother Lawrence
Good when He gives,
supremely good;
Nor less when He denies: Afflictions,
from His sovereign hand, Are blessings in disguise.

>Brother Lawrence is one of the most admired and imitated sons of the Catholic church. He worked for a time as a soldier before entering the Discalced Carmelite Prior in Paris. Lawrence was uneducated, and so had to enter the monastery as a layman. He worked in the kitchens and as a cobbler there for the remainder of his life. Lawrence is known for his devotion and ability to bring God into every aspect of his life. His classic Christian work, Practice of the Presence of God, details how to gain that constant and comforting connection to God. Readers have treasured this short and easy book for centuries because of Lawrence's honest advice and his obvious passion for spiritual matters. He rejoiced in everyday tasks, prayed constantly, and was known around the monastery for his kindness and willingness to help others. Practice of the Presence of God is a creative Christian work that is required reading according to many believers. Readers will come away with great peace and joy, and a better understanding of what it means to constantly be in God's presence.

“I believe in the ... communion of saints.”

SURELY if additional proof of its reality were needed, it might be found in the universal oneness of experimental Christianity in all ages and in all lands. The experiences of Thomas á Kempis, of Tauler and of Madame Guyon, of John Woolman and Hester Ann Rogers, how marvellously they agree, and how perfectly they harmonize! And Nicholas Herman, of Lorraine, whose letters and converse are here given, testifies to the same truth! In communion with Rome, a lay brother among the Carmelites, for several years a soldier, in an irreligious age, amid a sceptical people, yet in him the practice of the presence of GOD was as much a reality as the “watch” of the early Friends, and the “holy seed” in him and others was the “stock” (Isa. vi. 13) from which grew the household and evangelistic piety of the eighteenth century, of Epworth and of Moorfields.

“When unadorned, adorned the most” is the line which deters from any interpolations or interpretations other than the few “contents” headings which are given. May the “Christ in you” be the “hope of glory” to all who read.

Why are Urantia posters so cringe?

i never read this book, so i'm struggling to connect the dots on it. isn't this just related to the whole new age movement/kybalion?

There is no real association with the new age movement, unless you think all modern religious expressions are new age.

'New age' has in a sense become a derogatory term, like 'cult', in that there is a negative connotation and stigma attached to it; but I think it is ridiculous to dismiss everything considered to be new age as having no religious, spiritual, or other values (new age expressions. just like all religious traditions, can contain spiritual truth, wisdom, beauty etc).

Urantia denounces astrology, numerology, and magic as ignorant superstitions,

Even if it was 'just related to the whole new age movement/kybalion" that wouldnt be a reason to dismiss it.

But its not, so dont worry, it still has literary and religious merit and you should look into it.

The idea of Earth as Urantia is fucking crazy shit in the first place

>> No.14654488

>>14654439
Why is it crazy?
There is nothing implausible or irrational about the idea of the book.
You are not certain that extraterrestrials or supernatural spiritual beings do not exist, so you cannot rule out that they are indeed the authors of the book.
