I've seen this exact post before, and think last time I replied that something about whether you were there and how you could know that. But since i've managed to alter the last few deja vu's i've had, I'm not going to post that. I'm changing the timeline bros, let's blow this eternal recurrence.

i work for a top-tier PR firm--this is pretty much what i do as a profession.

what is it you want to manipulate people towards? if you are more specific, ill happily point you in the right direction.

I don't think that was me you were replying to but I'm not too ashamed to admit that I was there. All there really is to be said about it is that it felt like a place that was specifically engineered to create abusive personality disorders. Not to blogpost but I was neck-deep in that sort of thing throughout middle school and was involved in horrible mentally ill relationships and so on and on, I'm sure you can imagine. I'm sure someday someone will write a book on the whole fucking phenomena.

I knew an ENTP, he came off way to strong to be legitimately manipulative, and his intentions were always transparent to anyone who's not a complete normalfag. I'll admit, the most successfully manipulative people are the ENFJ's, and I respect them.

why so grumpy mr. grumpy pants? why assume so much about what i do? ya triggered by the mere mention of my metier?

for what its worth, i don't deal in that low-level, viral, 'illusionist' crap--those firms and agencies are a dime a dozen. i know how to manufacture reality in a very specific way, and that is what i offer professionally.

Since influence, artistic relevance and hype are highly related in the short term (and sometimes even in the long term) this should be right up your alley.

jesus christ this is EXACTLY the type of mix between lumpenproletariat/megalomaniac thinking that i absolutely avoid and would never represent from any perspective, let alone PR.

firstly, this type of movement almost always fucking fails; the public is generally smarter than you think, and has a "common sense" for just down-right illusions. you basically have reality reversed: if you were to come to me and say, "hey, i have this book i've written; i think it could have some relevance today, and i think it's actually pretty good" i would 1) assess the actual quality of the product, ensuring that it is actually something that could be marketed at some basic and sustainable level; and 2) only then would i begin to devise a strategy for its introduction into the/a public. as a general rule of thumb, the name of the game is event-production; hype and confidence are more existential couriers of a kind of "center" complex that you can create first and foremost by creating an event. you need something substantial on your side before any of that "influence" crap even comes into focus. as far as literary ambitions are concerned, i suppose a custom-tapestry of publisher-led book signings, NPR appearances (trust me, this really matters), media-driven "book club" recommendations, and even get a celebrity or politician or two to endorse the work, depending on its content. visibility is obviously key, but visibility is only generated if you actually have something to make visible.

ideas like "i'm going to make a movement that manipulates or controls x population" almost never pan out, and i would say are a categorical waste of time from any legitimate PR perspective. you're drilling at the problem from the opposite side of the globe, so to speak.
