Fascism is not the same as racism but whatever. I am no racist, but I can see how their worldview is not as you say.
They simultaneously take meaning from these ideas:
1. They find more joy in cohabiting with their race than with other races, or find more pain in cohabiting with others than with theirs. So in their immediate daily life experience, an immediate preference exists.
2. They have the belief that their race will advance humanity in a better direction than others, and/or other races will be detrimental for this most desirable direction. A trascendental preference also exist.
3. They naturally love their immediate family and have a sense of progeny or lineage. That way they connect the immediate with the transcendent.
They can create multigenerational meaning and purpose, that is quite impressive. You can call that abstraction or fear, but so is any concept in our minds we care about. They just do it in an intergenerational level and despite what the modern status quo says, there is nothing particularly wrong in that.

The trascendental drive does not necessarily imply indefinite sustainability of the people. Whatever replaces humans, whatever new rearrangement occurs, it will causally depend on what specific people did. A racist can make a point that his race is the one that will generate the most desirable rearrangement.
In an hypothetical exercise, I can imagine every race disappearing except for a Sub Saharian Africans tribe. Then in another hypothetical case I can imagine every race disappearing except Germans in the Nazi period. Whatever happens to the world in the next hundreds of thousands of years, could be vastly different even if none of those groups thenselves will survive that time.
