Do you ever "study" books as if you were taking a test?

I like to read nonfiction to improve my life and mindset, but I feel like just reading a book is not enough to truly grasp it. I've been thinking about making memory paragraphs and flash cards.

Do you ever study, and just start thinking about chocking on a fat throbbing veiny cock. Pop juice semen exploding down your throat

I tried that before on a book about Mesopotamia because I wanted to thoroughly absorb it. I got burnt out not even halfway through. I took notes and annotated like I was taking a loosely structured course. Perhaps I overdid it, because it stopped being engaging enough for me and I lost my incentive for doing it not even halfway through.

Do you ever "work" somewhere as if you were employed there?

I like to go to the grocery store and start putting stock on the shelves to improve my life and mindset, but i feel like just putting stock on the shelves is not enough to truly grasp what i means to work. I've been thinking about printing out some application forms and interview tips.

When I read nonfiction I take notes with regular breaks to meditate, and when I'm finished for the day I write a summary of what I've learned. This helps my comprehension and retention a lot. It's a shitload slower than just regular reading, but it beats the fuck out of having to reread everything every couple years.

>flash cards.

Why yes, that is correct, I do indeed engage with art as if I was taking a test of certification at an approved institution of education, and I do this for a minimum of 30 minutes a day to efficiently optimize my cultural capital, what sort of algorithm or heuristic made you capable of discerning this information?

I do this all the time. It has actually become the only thing I do with my free time.
Side notes, charts, summaries, critical reviews, all personal, privately saved information directed at my own improvement, edification and life plannification.

If I'm not seriously studying relevant non-fiction I feel I am wasting my time. I still take rests once in a while to play videogames, lifting and interacting with friends and qts but it is honestly all inferior to the meaningful self-actualization and exploration. Been doing this for 3 years and the brain gains are noticeable.

i find this just burns you out, and makes you less likely to read. education trains you to do this shit so you dont enjoy learning. the best way to learn shit is to read adjacent, relevant material to what you're currently reading. it's a lot more chill, and you learn more and in a more holistic way.

e.g. when you read Plutach's fall of the roman republic, maybe reading caesars commentaries after. Or when you finish reading homer, try reading some greek history.

that being said, i do like taking snapshots of passages I like, or noting pages to revisit. sometimes i revisit them, sometime i don't

These are great responses. My technique is to use flashcards on a spaced repetition system, to take away life lessons from the book.
I don't always do it for all books, but I certainly do for the ones I want to remember.
You can also learn banter and funny turns of phrase for conversation over time, via studying dialogue, in addition to ideas.
