Are there any books on chan/imageboard culture?
what kind of people do these fringe places attract?
Are they all on the same wavelength to a certain degree?

Kill all Normies has some references to 4chan.. i didn't find it an enjoyable read however

someone should really give a play-by-play of the shia HWNDU scandal... it was fkkng priceless

It's be interesting as a historical project, even from a linguistic or anthropological perspective. Especially since most self identified oldfags are unreliable sources.
So much information and data gets lost. To understand what's going on 4chan, holistically, you need quite a massive context of what's going in the culture right now, and what's going on in the site, and a whole new vocabulary. That's easy, if you happen to live in the time and expose yourself to it.
But take just the word, as used in memes, "le." Like,
>le meme
If you just see it once or twice, and you have no context, it makes no sense. if you're a historian working with scant data, you might see that and think, "What, the french word 'le?' Why?" It's not pidign. It's a connotative word, and has no true denotation. Users understand it implicitly because it has a history going back to the earliest 4chan memes, or through exposed use. But to understand it you need to understand it's proper meaning of irony and grammar modification, things no users consciously thinks about.

At any time, there' s a constantly reactive and changing lexicon being used, a lot of which relates to simply the site itself. Like "fag." it means homo, but it's also just a way to refer to anybody in a certain context.
>/pol/fag
>copfag
>doctorfag
>tradesfag
None of which the users consciously considers. It just is, no rulebook needed, and in two hundred years the student of this material will have little to work with.

honestly, i'll have to delve into again. i'm not sure if it was the writing style or what.. i think i was half-expecting something a little 'lighter' if you will. i remember initially it struck me as being a smidge too cerebral(?) i guess... i just wanted a regurgitation of some of the more interesting meme lore... but, if you've managed, so far to stick it out, i will get right back on that horse and put some real effort into it this time.

No, not yet. Especially not something covering other imageboards as well (especially since this one is reddit-lite). It'd probably be a good project, tons of newfags would buy it. Pretty much just regurgitate ED, devote a chapter to /pol/ in 2016, say some pseud shit about why anonymity is the patricians choice for genuine free speech and original ideas & you're basically done.

There used to be a wiki called Encyclopedia Dramatica and lurk.more or something. Both of those two have all the drama of the past chronicled for future generations.

Here's some:

https://encyclopediadramatica.wiki/index.php/B/-day

https://encyclopediadramatica.wiki/index.php/Cornelia

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

I mean you're all probably aware of the >tfw no gf documentary that's being released on amazon in a week's time, even though that will probably end up being entirely thrown out by most of the people on here for whatever reason. I'm curious to see it regardless.

In relation to the question of the OP, does anyone know of any fiction that uses the imageboard/messaging forum format to tell a story (or parts of it, at least?)
