If you mean from a historical mainstream perspective, lots of big wars are later blamed on a book. The Protocols is often cited as a leading cause of both the world wars and the printing of Uncle Tom’s Cabin was usually regarded as the biggest single factor in starting the American civil war. Otherwise you either mean something with amazingly structured prose or something designed to make the reader undergo insanity and I mean both things do exist and for obvious reasons this distinction is safeguarded by publication houses

the works that actually radicalize people are usually dumb af. The Communist Manifesto, The Turner Diaries, Mein Kampf. you're expecting some sort of thoughtful, logical refutation of modern life, but those works don't really reach people on emotional levels. what reaches people is messy emotion.

The problem with your question is that minds are different. The mind of a child is radically different from the mind of an old man. For instance, a book proving Santa isn't real would probably 'annihilate' the mind of a child, whereas the PoS, if fully taken in and understood, might actually 'annihilate' the mind of an old man. It just depends on the person.

They swim around keeping each other in sight, and each one saying to himself: 'I have been mistaken; here is one more evil than I.' Then by common accord they glide towards one another underwater, the female shark using its fins, Maldoror cleaving the waves with his arms; and they hold their breath in deep veneration, each one wishing to gaze for the first time upon the other, his living portrait. When they are three yards apart they suddenly and spontaneously fall upon one another like two lovers and embrace with dignity and gratitude, clasping each other as tenderly as brother and sister. Carnal desire follows this demonstration of friendship."

It doesn't exist. I assume somebody that has strong coping mechanisms and confronts something that makes them recognize their cope will have their views shattered before them. The only thing that ever shattered my mind was taking LSD and other psycho active drugs. As you may have noticed, the hippy dippy people think they are literal magic that allowed them to find a neural pathway into seeing the universe instead of it being a physical alteration of our current existence and perception. I look at people in very animalistic terms now. People, after all, are just beings that react to stimuli. I think we observe this better with creatures that look alien like bugs. We see implicit motivations of their being. Humans like to think they are so smart, but I, including everyone else, is just as susceptible to their base instincts. Boobs make us horny, cooked flesh makes us hungry, and attacks make us violent. We are more than bugs, but we all have reactions that we can never change.

You're going to have to be more specific. Spiritually? Anything Buddhist or Gnostic, those are the two poles as far as philosophy is concerned in my opinion. Everything else is just taking their metaphysical propositions and diluting them in terms of pure "this is how reality ACTUALLY works" potential.

Politically, I dunno, probably like Mein Kampf or something given that it's Liberalism's equivelant of the Satanic Bible. Amazon won't even sell accurate English translations of it as far as I'm aware because reading even just a transaltion of Hitler's words will turn you into a rabid anti-Semitic KKKnazireTHUGliKKKan. Maybe Ted K.'s stuff, that's pretty radical. If Academics took five minutes to figure out what the fuck Evola and friends were saying they'd probably demand those be banned too. Spengler, maybe.

This was supposed to be what the original versions of Contra Galileos ("Against the Galileans") by Julian the Apostate was like, by the way. According to Saint Cyril it was supposedly so blasphemous that it would destroy the faith of any Christian who read it. Reading even a single verse from this foul text would turn even the most pious of Christians into an ardent worshiper of Jupiter. The only parts of it we have are the ones Cyril of Alexandria could tip his miter at and come up with witty zingers to BTFO Julian with FAITH AND LOGIC, which raises the question of how Cyril remained a Christian after reading it. Honestly though, it's nothing special and if you've ever seen an Atheism VS Christianity debate by people on the Right you've seen everything of Julian's that survives.

give them a read, even if you consider it fiction it's still good storytelling
the tl;dr is that some engineer in his 40's started having out of body experiences, he eventually learns to navigate the state meets and meets intelligent entities, finds out about the reason for the existence of humanity and why we are here
after you finish the 3rd final book you are presented with a very organized, and logically sounding structure of the afterlife
for me the second book stands out the most when it presents the creation of humans at one point

if it sounds completely bonkers I don't blame you, you will be disturbed/will be made curious by the book one way or another even if you go as a skeptic

This was all in the fifties (IIRC) and he had very little ability to research occult knowledge of such ideas. It's almost identical to higher level Tibetan dream yoga practices. The later books he wrote are even weirder.

The biggest thing is that I don't fear death anymore. If someone would tell me that I will die of cancer in 3 months or so I don't think I would change my way of life in a significant way. Life for me is a literal play, that doesn't mean I can't take my role serious and pretend I'm not a part of it

what is your answer to this argument

>There is nothing more futile than to consciously look for something to save you. But consciousness makes this fact seem otherwise. Consciousness makes it seem as if (1) there is something to do; (2) there is somewhere to go; (3) there is something to be; (4) there is someone to know. This is what makes consciousness the parent of all horrors, the thing that makes us try to do something, go somewhere, be something, and know someone, such as ourselves, so that we can escape our MALIGNANTLY USELESS being and think that being alive is all right rather than that which should not be.

I stopped looking for someone or something to save me or to provide me comfort, so I can agree with this.
the guy you quoted made the observation that we humans ultimately have an "itch" that makes us endlessly restless and in search for a meaning that is never found.
Monroe talked about this very thing in one of the books, it's something that is built in, and deliberately designed into us. It's goal is to maximize emotional friction
"As a side experiment, Someone designed and created one form of Mobile that was weak and ineffective by the standards of the other Mobiles in the Fourth Crop. Yet this experimental Mobile had two distinct advantages. It had the ability to ingest and take energy from both the Stationaries and other Mobiles. Second, Someone pulled forth a Piece of Himself —no other source of such Substance being known or available—to act as
an intensive, ultimate trigger to mobility. Following the Rule of Attraction, Someone knew that such infusion would create in this particular Mobile species an unceasing mobility. Always, it would seek to satisfy the
attraction this tiny mote of Himself engendered as it sought reunion with the infinite Whole. Thus the drive for satisfaction of energy requirements through ingestion would not be the only motivating force. More important, the needs and compulsions created by the Piece of Someone could not be satiated throughout the Garden.

the author you quoted is stuck because he noticed this drive and restless in humans, this apparent useless search for meaning. But because he did not had the same information as Monroe, he can't realize why we have it

Not without social conditioning. You think tribal peoples, with their women having their breasts out 24/7 are walking around with an incessant boner? Indeed, Scandis/Finns don't get horny over boobs when in the sauna either. Sexual context and conditioning. Particularly when you add in breastfeeding, it makes breasts for that purpose, a common feature of life, and correspondingly unsexualised. Most of humanity lives in warm places, places that did not have full clothing but instead were completely naked or half naked all the time. In this way, the rest of the body was more often than not no different to the face. Possibly attractive but not outright arousing outside of having sex.

>cooked flesh makes us hungry
Not if you don't eat it (e.g. vegetarian), it'll smell revolting actually because it's literally decaying meat.

>and attacks make us violent
Not if you're submissive or conscientious of your emotions and morals.

The problem with thinking of humans as bugs is that your conception of this is contained within the limits of humans, within that bug-nature. So you can never actually grasp the full length of this as it pertains to humans. Making it a childish and ignorant point, more of a reduction of the world for those too stupid and fearful to understand its full depth. Yes, they're just bugs, now I don't have to think, leave me with my bitterness and ignorance.

Yet, showing a woman's tits is one of the easiest ways to get a sexual response from men. You really don't think that men naturally find breasts attractive when human females are the only species of mammal to develop breasts during puberty and not pregnancy? Also, human breasts stick around their whole lives. No other mammal does this. There is no other point besides to attract men. It has evolved into us and tribal men still like big breasted women even though their tits are out. You just have never bothered to find out if they do. Breasts are not just attractive because they are covered.

Even if there's no afterlife or reincarnation (I believe in heaven and hell), there's no use, absolutely no use in worrying about death. >life is meaningless

>life is bad because there is pain
>life is bad because [insert random fact about life]
Anyone who thinks that life is objectively bad or death is objectively good is a certified retard. Life is only bad because something hurt your feefees and now you want to kill yourself.

Life is a struggle, yes. That is solidified into what life ontologically is. You do you see this struggle as evil? Genuinely ask yourself why you think a bird eating a worm is evil. Try to come up with an answer that doesn't boil down to "it's just wrong!" or "it produces suffering!", which is something I rarely see people achieve.

And if life is so meaningless, why is the cessation of life bad? Why is killing bad? Why is feeling pain at all, which is simply a reaction in the mind of a living organism, bad? Ask yourself why you think these things are bad or evil if life is already meaningless anyway.

I see this thinking almost as a kind of spiritual immaturity. Life is not something to be clung to, yes. There is no doubt that life, at least the human definition of life, is incomplete.
Yet, life is not divorced from its source. I think the demiurge of the Gnostics is actually a demon in the mind. The demiurge is born out of Sophia's fall when man says to himself that he is separate from the spiritual world, that there is a "material world" that is dead and lifeless and devoid of divinity. If you believe you are in a world of evil, then perhaps you are. If you see that all this exists fully within the spiritual world (how could it not? There could be nothing outside of divinity, since then divinity would be limited and without) then you destroy the demiurge and see yourself return to the eternal present moment. Life is not so bad. Its just a movement of the cosmos.

>>15386691
What would that accomplish? I could sacrifice my body for something if it had an actual achievement behind it. Just because I am not so afraid of pain does not mean that I will randomly destroy myself without reason.

>> No.15386788

there is something outside of divinity, and it is darkness. light and darkness are coeternal, the latter is not derived (through emanation, a primordial seduction, etc.) from the former. stop psychologizing the demiurge. he is an eater of children, an actively hostile world order (your body is decaying as we speak). stop it.

Perhaps the body I call my own will disappear, yes, but that body was simply a movement in the cosmos all along. I know this body and mind that I call myself will die one day, why worry about it? Dust to dust. And by the way, if we accept the idea of a "monad" then I was always within the monad and will always return to the monad.

>it's the world that submits life to the law of predation you fucking retard
So now the world is bad? You must realize that this "law of predation" is only bad because you have evolved a survival instinct, which is a facet of this "meaningless" life? Why is survival instinct something you should care about?

>>15386738
They are insufficient because you are saying life is wrong while measuring it using the things like survival instinct, which is meaningless anyway if life is meaningless.
>"it's just right"
It isn't just right. It's not wrong either. How could it be?

ftfy.
When did I say it is wholly negative? It is more comparable to negative and positive balancing out and returning to the neutral state. It only seems at one pole at one time, but time is a limitation of the mind anyway. At the infinite end of time, the score card reads entirely neutral.

The whole problem with this life of arguing is that you are obsessed with seeing life from your own one perspective. Perhaps an alien from another dimension would see you no different than a rock or a cloud of space dust. What does it matter? Suffering is bad, sure, but only to the sufferer in that moment. If you move beyond the perspective of that suffering organism you see simply a movement of the universe.

Consider any book that's widely hated.

Finnegan's Wake, Gravity's Rainbow, Infinite Jest. Singing the praises of these books is likely to earn you scorn, people will fling insults and mockery.
>Elitist
>Pseud
>Poser
>Schizo
or whatever else they may see.

Oh sure, they have justifications. They'll complain about unreadability, they'll complain about intentionally being obtuse. But at the end of the day, what is subversion?

Subversion is merely the act of contradicting values and principles. The negative reactions people will have towards these books, and the people who enjoy them, is indicative of just how much subverting these books actually do.

The above insults are the expression of these people's values being torn apart by these books, their expectations of what makes a good book being skirted around. These people (the overwhelming majority) have expectations that a book should make an effort to be readable, and yet here we have a set of books which eschew this very foundational principle and instead opt to do the exact opposite, to expend effort in becoming unreadable. These books are highly subversive for smashing the very core values that so many demand from their reading material.

Of course, not everybody gets upset at these books. But at the end of the day there is no book which will be considered subversive to everybody. There is no book which will destroy your sanity. That's just not how the real world works.
