Yeah it was fun, it was awkward at first. We mostly sat around and talked about politics and sipped on gin and tonic. One guy started talking about Pynchon being the greatest contemporary writer and we all agreed but the discussion didn't go very far because it became clear that nobody there had actually read it but there was a mutual respect so we didn't force the issue. One anon (I think the guy in the pink bucket hat) started smoking some weed and a couple of the other guys started freaking out and quoting Nietzsche out of context but other than that it was a fine day. I went to one in 2017 or 2018 in New York City - it was pretty awesome. Most of the people were good looking, well-adjusted, and I believe everyone who attended (except for one very cool NEET from New Hampshire who hitch-hiked and took buses, he claims, to get to New York) was attending or had attended Columbia or NYU and lived in the metro area. The conversation was actually very good, very highbrow, and everyone was well-read. We ate at a Czech restaurant - perhaps someone here attended. I don't know if other meet-ups would be that good, but perhaps New York City attracts a good crowd.

Man I'm so good with getting weirdos to open up and not be weirdos. I brought so many weird kids into my friend groups in highschool and they ended up with friends that they still have to this very day. I hope I get to go to a /lit/ meet up I'll go weirdout with the weird kids. There was a weird kid named Miles in my highschool who didnt have any friends and at lunch and P.E. he would hover around behind random groups of friends and pretend he was a part of their groups, and they would eventually tell him to fuck off or migrate to another area. Then he came hovering behind me and my friends one day and I said Get the fuck in here Miles bro and shared a bag of sour punch straws with him and started talking to him off the side about the band on his shirt and telling him I was jealous of his DVS shoes and that my feet were too big to fit into all the puffy name brand ones and then I'd bring one of my other friends in the conversation without overwhelming him too much because I was a weird kid too when I was really young so I knew the kind of social shit that would give them anxiety. And then me and my friends made a deal to say hey to Miles really loud whenever we saw him in passing periods so other groups at school would see he wasn't that bad. Took him a year to finally loosen up and he was always still a little weird but he found new groups of friends and everyone just kind of accepted his "lurkiness" as a goofy personality trait and he seemed to enjoy being that guy after a while.

Yes, please do keep an eye out for a NYC meetup thread that I intend to make over the next couple weeks. With coronavirus and restrictions on meeting in restaurants in NYC proper, it will probably have to wait for a while.
