This board was alleged to be intelligent. 10,000 is a ridiculous number. Depending on the starting conditions the birds of the man are the best choice. If all competitors have clear line of sight at the start then you risk being shot instantly by the man. If there is search and discovery involved then 50 birds could incapacitate the lone man with a gun while you hide. I'd even lean towards the birds in the face off scenario and take my chances with the marksman's aim. 50 birds of prey is too strong.

It's not ten thousand rats. Remember it is the total number of animals in the square times the multiplier. There are from what I count about 17 rats in that photo. Multiply 17 x 10000 = 170,000 rats give or take.

The gunman looks tempting, as he's the only ranged option, but just one man with a hunting rifle would lose individually against all the other choices (except for 10 crocodiles, because they are so slow).
Eagles seem underwhelming at first sight, but they are the only aerial option. This means that they could easily bypass any wall of meat to strike me directly. Hence, I think I have no choice but to take the eagles.
Having birds on my side, I am free to adopt a mobile defense-in-depth strategy, where I constantly run away from the slowest enemies (crocodiles + rats), and the gunman can't shoot me accurately when pursuing (especially through a screen of eagles).
This leaves me with choice between bears, buffallo, gorillas, wolves and lions.
Buffallo don't possess claws or sharp teeth, instead their strength lies in charging with momentum, which isn't really what I need, considering my strategy of constant withdrawal
The lions, bear and gorillas don't have that problem, but they are too few in numbers and run the risk of getting swarmed or exhausted with the number of rats.
This is why for my second choice I would pick wolves. They are natural pack-hunters that can take down a bear or a buffalo through cooperation, while also being numerous enough to stand a chance against the rats.

So my final answer is:
