Be very skeptical of it. Mary has a bone to pick with Trump and his side of the family because of a dispute over inheritance. This is also a wonderful time to profit of this kind of stuff — near the election and the success of John Bolton's book. Yeah, he was on his deathbead when this happened. However, she is the ONLY one to have made this claim. And knowing how high profile Trump is/was, I think something like this would've come out already if it had some real basis in fact. Trump has said in many interviews since his brother died that his death had a huge impact on him and made him weary about abusing alcohol. He's even admitted to making some mistakes with his brother. This claim is so spiteful though and knowing some of her personality makes me think this is a highly unlikely accusation.

Real Democracy with actual stakes to it is an unpleasant thing. It's obvious there's a major inter-ruling-class conflict which Trump is just a front for. When elections actually matter like right now the psychological manipulation is ratcheted up to 11. This is why we see things like dumb Swedoids in Minnesota refusing to call the police on open drug markets because it wouldn't be very nice to brown people or boomers screaming at each other on golf courses. Democracy gets people whipped into a frenzy over things they ultimately have little role in.

What do you think next generations will think of all this anti-Trump literature? Poor old Nixon is still maligned in the popular imagination due to smears dating back to his congress run and the Hiss case. This is despite several serious historians and biographers trying their best to rehabilitate him from a caricatural bad guy to flawed, yet admirable human being.

I haven't read all of the anti-Trump books, but I have a tough time believing it all amounts to more than rumours, half-truths and exaggerations. The judgements of these authors are likely too clouded by the current political climate to paint an unbiased picture of the Trump presidency. Imagine if Trump's personality really was a synthesis of all those portrayed in these books. I am really expected to believe this imagined Trump character could run the country, conduct diplomacy, make executive orders, etc.? I'm not even talking about running the White House properly, I mean just running on a day to day basis, without the entire country collapsing from stupid polices. If the US was going through a period of relative tranquillity, I might believe that Trump, out of dumb luck could be running the administration properly, but the last 3 years have been crazy, with a China-US trading ware that the US has been generally wining, Middle-Eastern tensions, a pandemic, etc.

Even great presidents had trouble managing general strikes (Truman), unpopular wars (Eisenhower), economic crises (Roosevelt). I know I would never have been able to manage such crises, so I can't imagine that the 90 IQ illiterate bully portrayed by these books could have either. Therefore, I don't trust these books. Perhaps in 50 years we'll be able to get a true picture of the Trump presidency, when all of his fanatical supporters and opponents are dead. What do you think?

Trump's very mode of conduct makes an objective appraisal of his tenure as president extremely difficult. Both the limiting cases that a.) all the invective is true and that he is a unremitting fraud and b.) that he is actually exceptionally competent but misunderstood, are probably far from the truth.

Behind all of it is a mythology that the president wields decisive power that can singularly shape economies and geopolitics. This goes back to great man theory of history which Tolstoy detested. The president is more like a steersman, reacting and only tentatively influencing the sum totality of external event flows.

I do think a fair appraisal of him would have to give him SOME credit. The trade war with China is totally warranted given China's record of malicious actions attempting to undermine US interests. We also don't hear about ISIS in the newscycle, in no small part because Trump authorized an aggressive ramp up of military operations against them. Pinning full blame on him for the disastrous response to the pandemic is unrealistic but he certainly didn't help it. He shut down the pandemic response team after he became elected and has had an intolerably asinine attitude about it the whole time. He's also not nearly as racist as his leftist detractors want him to be.
His causal role in the economic boom that transpired after he came to office is not to be underestimated. Although again this goes back to the critique that presidents only play a secondary role in such forces and trends.
Obama deported more illegals than almost any president and ramped up drone strikes. But none of this attaches to his record.

It is obvious Trump has narcissistic personality disorder. If you have never dealt with someone who has NPD or another Cluster B personality disorder (borderline, histrionic, antisocial [aka psychopathy/sociopathy]), then this is something you will easily write off and disregard. Anyone who has dealt with it knows how insidious it is, and knows how people with these chaotic disorders get away with it... all - the - time. Read about these disorders if you aren't sure what I'm talking about - it'll help you make sense of the most crazy people you've ever come across. Wikipedia will help you out.

Point is, nearly every celebrity, politician, or person with sizeable influence is a narcissist. Hillary was one too, only better at hiding it. It is not irrational to vote for the wolf rather than the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Trump should not have his narcissism defended, however. This quality is literally what is eroding American values and strength of community; people here are more concerned with image and attention, and they use consumerism to fill the void where identity used to be. This is not a mindset to be praised. It is hollow and shallow, empty and evil.

Narcissists leave a trail of destruction in their wake. I voted for Trump, and might vote for him again, but if you gave me a button that would kill all narcissists upon pressing it, I would not hesitate to press it and I would not cry a tear for Trump. The world would be all the better for it... but we would have no one to vote for. Possibly for good. What humble, well-meaning person would want power over everyone?

The woman who wrote this book is probably brainwashed with neoliberal bullshit - I was there once myself, and voted for Obama twice - but what she says about his history of emotional neglect rings true. He isn't good. He's twisted and stunted by a lackluster upbringing. But... he is persistent in his goals at the expense of everyone else. It's why he's a billionaire. What he does works. It's true.

He's a narcissist. Anyone who has stared a narcissist in the eyes when they are in a shame-filled rage at being questioned and contradicted knows it. Anyone who has run for their life from someone angry at being exposed for what they are knows it. It doesn't mean he's not our best option at the moment. But what choice do we have? Biden obviously doesn't care, and will make things worse for ordinary working white people.

Don't deify Trump. He's as horrible and selfish as any other politician. He's just a means to an end at the moment.

All I want to say is that you're not helping yourself by not being aware of what he is. Know and understand what Cluster B people are, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Save yourself the pain.

Thank god, I found a true intelligent American. There are a lot of uneducated, non-curious, and underperforming people in this country. Go ahead, google American public education. It is worse than other countries, even those with a higher percentage not graduating, because if they didn't make it so fucking easy, then we'd see higher drop-out rates. It is a double-edged sword because education is terrible so the now high school doesn't mean anything to a huge flood in the labor supply.

They all hold on to the symbolism and pseudo-ideas that the "red" or "blue" does.

I have a hard time understanding Americans that come from a terrible education country, their vocab doesn't do them justice and aren't given realistic goals.

American lit, if it was ever, will fall from grace and degenerate into what >>15897915
