Wanting to start on some Vonnegut, which book should I start with?

>> No.1620766

his first book, as you would with any author

>> No.1620774

Cat's Cradle, or possible Breakfast of Champions. But really, Cat's Cradle.

I just got a new job, and now I have more time...haven't been reading seriously since high school so I'm not the avid reader type...I wanna get into it though!

>>1620774
Awesome, that's the book I got at the library (Cat's Cradle), I'll start on it tonight!

>> No.1620781

Make sure to read Slaughterhous-Five.

I personally started with the film of Slaughterhouse five.

Stopped. It was good. Simple. May get into him later.

>> No.1620791

The one with butthole pictures. Seriously.

Eh, I heard that Slaughterhouse Five is a good one, so I will get on that after Cat's Cradle. Just finished the first few "chapters" of Cat's Cradle, his writing style is kinda really weird.

I like it though.

I started with Slaughter house V, and then I read God Bless You Mr. Rosewater. Mr. Rosewater appears in Slaughter house five. As does the grandfather of Niles Roomford, who is a character in Sirens of Titan. Btw, Sirens of Titan is one of my favorites.
I'm just ashamed that I've not read them all.
I've never read cat's cradle =(

>> No.1620810

Player Piano is his starter book. Cat's Cradle is his best overall book.

Do it. It's pretty good and not too long of a read.

>> No.1620819

He did alright for himself considering his mum offed herself on Mothers Day. God that's depressing.

99% of people who read Vonnegut for the first time choose Slaughterhouse 5.

>> No.1621385

>Mother Night.
>Had never heard of Vonnegut before.

>> No.1621389

We should make a fucking .jpeg guide for Vonnegut and throw it on the lit wikia

>> No.1621432

>>1621356

I read Breakfast of Champions

More nauseating than Naked Lunch

Slaughterhouse Five, and then read God Bless You, Mr Rosewater. His other works are alright.

>> No.1621903

i started with slaughterhouse five, since it was his most well known

and then i read sirens of titan, which i liked better

>> No.1621911

Vonnegut is easy, you could start with just about anything. I suggest Slaughterhouse 5, Mother Night, Cats Cradle, or Breakfast of Champions.

How so? I mean, I like both Vonnegut and Naked Lunch, but I can't recall any vivid descriptions of homosexual snuff in Vonnegut.
