How do you read a book?
-slowly and carefully paying attention to take in every word of every sentence and rereading a paragraph when necessary
-fast and carelessly, taking in the "general picture" and filling most of it with your own mind

THE FORMER OPTION.

I used to do the second option, but then I turned 13. Was nice for plowing through those Harry Potter books, though.

depends on the book

if its literature i'll subvocalize, because the prose is usually indulgent/beautiful, and there are details, themes and ideas not worth missing

if its for school or its pulp, i'll skim and speed read
