The novelty wears off immediately because work is just a never ending river of the same shit. You feel good when you complete a huge order of gearmotors and all that cluttered space is gone, but a week or two later it's the same shit. The freight comes and goes, it shifts from invigorating to depressing. Build a house as a hobby project, especially one to live in and it's very satisfying, build one every month and it's just fucking work. No time to appreciate a job well done, time to move on to the next project.
