Books on common sense

Since the concept of the midwit has been conceived, ive become interested in learning more about the usefullness and truthfullness of "common sense", as in the things that are held truth by the vast majority of people, especially those who are uneducated. For example, they might not hold certain opinions because they really thought about it, but these opinions might nonetheless have a very beneficial evolutionary advantage. Like how emotions of disgust tie into cleanliness and aversion to disease, how racism and tribalism are evolutionary winning strategies, etc.

Ive read The Righteous Mind and it touches on it as an evolutionary advantage, and i want to know more.

It's just a bunch of ppl who've done one thing one way in isolation for awhile. I met someone in the marines from Midwest rural who thought it was really weird that I ate cereal for dinner before. I divinated that he was conservative from that and blew his mind to kingdom come it was funny.
If you're interested in it I'd read democratic or liberal books like German romantics.

Its incredibly midwit but you might explore some works on naturalistic decision making, which is the study of how people make decisions on practice in the real world.
Basically all our theoretical models and shit can barely scrape the usefulness of the instincts and heuristics of a highly experienced practitioner. The subconscious picks up on patterns and scripts and the surgeon for example gets a strong vibe something is wrong before any instrument or lab result can verify, prompting action and resolution of a problem that would not have been detected if not doe the fact that the guy has seen this a few times before in his career.
Thinking fast and slow is sort of the most retarded book on this subject, the best shit is journal articles, I'm really not sure if anyone has digested all the journal articles into a nice and high quality non-fic.
Novel on the subject would be House of God which is about an expert doctor using instinct and heuristic to run circles around high tec and overly-analytical approaches to patient care.

Seneca, Juvenal, Paine, Dilthey, Gadamer... its not treated as simply ideology or folk wisdom in philosophy though. It probably won't be satisfying to study all the various ways common sense has been used in philosophy. You can wade through this since a certain number of subjects discussed have examined the term in the way you describe.
