I am halfway through the first book of the first volume. When does it get good? He just keeps talking about the most boring abstract bullshit. I mean who gives a fuck? I don't care how angles in a triangle are constituted or how much wordspheres overlap. Where are the good bits and can I just sip to them?

Read "The Critique of Pure Reason " and "The Metaphysics of Morals" first Or have a basic understanding of Kant. I think even Schopenhauer suggested this very early in volume one. Then it's all good IMHO.

How can you find Schopenhauer of all philosophers boring? His style is probably the most readable of any philosopher.

yea he says that in the preface along with reading plato and the vedas and the fourfold root and I did all that

readable sure but its still a snoozefest, so far it's like looking at math formulas, where is the JUICE

Maybe start with "Essays and Aphorisms". Pretty "juicy" and a good introduction to Schopenhauer.

for the interesting parts, not the exposition dump

If you want to skip straight to dessert:
>Volume 2, supplement to the first book, first half
>Volume 1, Book 2 and 4
>Volume 2, supplement to the second and fourth book

Volume 2 has section titles, so you can skip around to subjects that you might find interesting. It's a real treat.
