I honestly can't think of anything to write. I want to keep it light. So far the only ideas I have is either a schlocky space opera pulp story about a pilot who gets sold into slavery to a mercenary organization. Kinda Conan the Barbarian/John Carter of Mars meets Ace Combat. The other idea being a isekai story where a portal opens up that allows people to escape into a fantasy world and it becomes so popular that the world population becomes dangerously low. What's left of the world governments start putting bounties on expatriates and a new industry is created where someone goes to the other side hunts down former earthers and brings them back. the catch of the portal is once you return to earth you can't use the portal ever again.

This will be my first serious attempt at writing a novel that I've been trying to get going for a decade and I'm kind of lost. I've had the setting, themes, main characters and a few scenes in my head for years but I always blanked out on trying to come up with an A-B plot to hang it all on. Over the last month I've managed to get an outline together for a first act that I really like but beyond that I feel like I'm back to floundering around with contrivances that are obviously just there as an excuse for cool shit to happen. I'm not going for life-changing high art or anything but I want it to be more than just cheese. I don't know if I'm overthinking it and I should just let the plot occur to me as I flesh out the first act or what.

I've been considering writing a novel without dialogue... descriptions of what the protagonist does and feels and experiences but not the actual words they say or hear.
Nanowrimo would probably just distract me from reading, so I'm not sure if I want to do that.

Now I know this shit definitely won't fly on a Christian board, but I've just come up with a story about some shmuck in a cartel tasked to smuggle a literal hellspawn demon brat across the border to sell off to some sicko living in the states at the height of the lockdowns but gradually developing feelings towards her over their journey. So I guess it's basically just The Road/TLoU/Children of Men/Lolita except the wise-cracking kid is a demon girl this time, but it's probably still at least on par with the average NaNoWriMo project in terms of originality.
And to make sure I don't get doxxed and crucified by you zealous fucks for my crimes against God and good taste, I'll make sure all the sinners in my novel receive punishment equal to or greater than their actions. Unless you call me a faggot, in which case I'll have no choice but to think of something more tolerable.
