So I bet this has been asked a thousand times around here, but what are some /lit/ approved methods to retain information?

Even when I understand perfectly what I read, I often have trouble to summarize it afterward, mentally, for myself.

One obvious thing to do is read the shit again, but what specific techniques are there for better storing what you read so that you can express it afterwards?
