This is such a stupid example (no offense to you). The discrepancy between chimp and human "smiles" are a lot smaller than keeps getting perpetuated. Yeah, you shouldn't apply human emotion to animal expressions, but that, in particular is a poor example. Humans bare their teeth when they're angry or in pain all the time. Best example: physically cringe right now, and pay attention to your face and what your lips do.
