Over 100 years ago, George Orwell predicted that “Goldstein” (Trump) would be banned by a totalitarian dictatorship. Has there ever been a better conservative writer than Orwell?

Orwell was a socialist. A disenfranchised socialist, but a socialist nonetheless
That being said the tactics currently being used by leftist absolutely resemble the totalitarian measures you see in the novel, newspeak daily hate and double-think are absolutely practices they engage with, and even if they like to pretend they are not the system they are currently having a hard time reconciling the fact that they are benefiting from it with their revolutionary ideas

I know it's bait but it was worth responding because OP clearly believes that just because Orwell was a socialist the novel does not apply to current leftists, when it absolutely does
The fact that conservatards or whatever you guys like to call them caught on doesn't make it any less poignant and topical

I know this is bait but it’s still less stupid than people who say that because George Orwell was a socialist he would support the reenactment of 1984 as long as big brother said he was anti-racist

If you bring up 1984 in a conversation about Orwell, you're outing yourself as a pseud.
