17273075 No.17273075 [Reply] [Original]

>When hugged as a child, [Ted Kaczynski] squirmed instead of hugging back.
>Kaczynski [...] lacked even elementary social skills.
>Ted] describes at length his inability to figure out whether or not he was attractive to women and references a passing comment of a friend of his family's at the age of 15, that made him believe he was quite attractive. […] At times in his writings, he focuses, in an extraordinary amount of detail, on passing or short lived relationships or potential relationships with females
>"aside from his mother, who doted on him as a boy, there appears to have been no substantive relationship with a woman in all his life"
>Those periods have been preceded by prodromal symptoms of depressed mood, insomnia, increased distractibility,
>Before his arrest he’d had almost no experience with women, as he confided repeatedly to his diary.
>"Kaczynski [...] lacked even elementary social skills. Russell Mosny recalls one of Kaczynski's rare dates. [He] borrowed his parent's car and took a girl to a movie. A half hour into the show, he excused himself and walked out of the theater, then returned [...] thirty minutes later he left again, then returned. He repeated these mysterious exits twice more. But the last time he did not return. After the movie was over, the girl found Ted waiting for her on the street. "Where have you been?" she asked. "I parked the car at a thirty-minute meter and had to keep putting nickels in," he explained. [...] "I ran out of money for tickets to get back into the theater."

This is incredibly common in children who have been physically or sexually abused. It's like PTSD 101 and ESPECIALLY common in people with autism
>Kaczynski [...] lacked even elementary social skills
And when a kid lacks social skills, especially a male child, it's just put down as a character flaw and nobody actually makes an effort to teach them because society fundamentally assumes that A) a man being lonely is OK, and B) if a man is lonely, he deserves it

Realize that while many are better off, the entire current generation of young men was treated with the same lack of empathy and compassion and is constantly subjected to messaging from the media, from advertisements, from "leaders," that being male is some kind of original sin they must perpetually atone for.

And you not only don't understand why they're angry, but want to double down and denigrate the ones worst affected even further.

>> No.17275350

Correct
> that A) a man being lonely is OK, and B) if a man is lonely, he deserves it
C) men are disposable either man up or die, if a man is lost another will take his place
This is why brotherhoods were necessary to raising men. All of it has been destroyed no generals, no armies, no brotherhood, can’t express anger, only impotence and castrations

I myself am half a sperg (the worse loud and arrogant type who puts his foot in his mouth easily and am prone to missing social cues and others’ unease) and I hate to think how I would have turned out without 12 years of playing football. What’s nice about American Football is that there are 22 unique positions+ special teams so there is usually a role for everyone with every body type to participate in where they can get these life lessons. I personally wasn’t even a full time starter til high school but through effort the coaches always trusted me and I got quite a bit of playing time resting starters. Our teams were good as fuck and we could rotate all the time and have competent players in and kept us all fresh we went on a stretch over 3 seasons of playing together where we lost maybe 5 games max and played in the championship game twice. Getting a girlfriend really didn't change my perspective like I expected. I obsessed about getting a gf very much in the same way he did, I falsely believed I'd feel a connection to someone and not be so alone. I eventually broke up with her because I was tired of wearing my human mask constantly and the fatigue of it was killing me.
Ever since I heard of Ted I've fantasised about a cabin in the woods (without the bombings). I'm going to try and make it happen in the next few years. All I do all day is read and browse /lit/, they're the closest things I've felt to a connection to someone else.

Feel this. Not diagnosed but I've strongly suspected for years and was misdiagnosed with ADHD, and when that happens ASD is usually the culprit. Basically I'm bad enough to feel different from others and just be viewed as a little weird but normal enough to cringe at 90% of other autistic people.
In high school I figured finding a girlfriend was a good thing in the same way getting my lisence and finding a job was, but when I finally found someone it caused me an inordinate amount of stress and I didn't know what to do with her once we were actually together. I've had a handful of really short lived relationships both initiated and broken off by the girl. My best friend is an asexual girl with similar background as me, found out about being on the spectrum as an adult and even before her diagnosis we just generally clicked in a way that other people didn't. I've got no interest in being with her cause were at the point it'd be like dating a sibling but our similarity has got me thinking my only hope for love might just be finding some mildly autistic STEM girl or something, because the quiet pain of dating regular girls with whom there is clearly a fundamental disconnect is seriously not worth it
