my favorite part of the manifesto is how ted loses the plot and proceeds to rrreeeeabout leftists for a good half of it
makes it really hard to recommend, it's just one of those things that sounds better in your head after it stews for a bit on it's own, I guess

I made a mistake and I recommended it to a girl that told me what I thought about the rat race and the lack of appreciation for nature in our society, and all that she could take away from the 5 pages that she read was that Ted did not like leftists, so she did not finish it and she thought I was a trump voter.

The point of the manifesto is not what he says and what he suggest ought to be done, but what the mentality behind it is and his vision of what man is and how he is in an alien state that destroys him.
If you cant get past him calling lefties retards then maybe you were never meant to understand being human outside of your 9-5 work job and netflix consumption

That's because there is two types of mathematician; the mathematician-philpsopher (Plato, Russell, Cantor etc.) and the bugman mathematician-technician. You must belong to the latter category.

Maybe I’m giving him to much credit, but it seems like he wanted to filter out the leftists right from the start. When people get through that segment they, to a certain extent, either can’t relate at all and thereby pass through his filter, get so antagonized that they drop or don’t take it seriously, or take the criticism to heart and go in with a mind that’s more receptive/open.

>> No.17352698

What exactly does leftist mean here? The term left wing is very amorphous nowadays since it has become less about abortion/gay marriage/civil liberties/censorship/mixed economy and more about immigration/multiculturalism/nationalism/PC culture.

In the case of his manifesto, he’s talking about the same group of people that Jordan Peterson calls Neo-Marxists. People whose worldviews are based in critical theory. The “everything that happens is rooted in the power struggle between groups”. It’s Neo-Marxism because a lot of the fundamental ideas can be traced to Marx but they expand on it. “Intersectionality” is like Marx’s class warfare except with many more dimensions

>> No.17352794

>>17352748
So basically the intersectional left, interesting.
I don't really like how people call them neo-marxist, it doesn't make any sense given how little emphasis they give on class. But there is no official term for it so I guess everyone has his own term for it.

>>17352607
That makes sense. If one can't get past that beginning where he is shitting on liberalism for enslaving the working class with meaningless distractions, then it's not going to make sense when is shitting at the conservatives for perpetuating this slavery that the liberals pushed, as it was always to their benefit, and stopped the more radicals from getting their demands. Also, the whole essay is not even about politics, but about the destruction of the soul by modern technology and the willingness of people to walk unaided to the slaughterhouse.

I don't think that's true either. There is clearly a real movement that these terms attempt to capture, but a lot of these terms are invented by people with lack the sufficient academic background to correctly identify their ideological lineage. In popular culture we have the term "woke" that everyone knows intuitively what it means, even though the specific movement it refers to has no official label, and their proponents typically identifv with a broader label like liberal, progressive etc.

I am reading a bit from a site I found on the web and he is a bit more interesting than I thought. Firstly, I expected him to be a kind of superficial "self-taught" thinker with no academic background, but it is clear from his writing that he is well educated. Secondly I am surprised with how lucid and clear his writing is, very entertaining to read.

In his work, he explains a specific strain of leftist that is all too common in academia. It basically is a privileged asshat who sympathizes with minority groups because deep down, he thinks said minority groups are inferior. It's a kind of person who nurses his ressentiment and turns it into an entire worldview whereby every action he takes is "against the system" and every disenfranchised person is a potential ally.

He seems to think that the "Left" as a movement is primarily motivated by a a need to compensate for a lack of self esteem rather than a desire to improve society.
There is probably some truth to it but it also smacks of Nietzsche style ad hom criticism, since the accused can easily rebut that by psychologizing his motives one has "established" that a certain set of ideas is bankrupt without actually engaging with the arguments.

Ted was ultimate evolution of the american "muh freedumbs" retard. The sad truth is that industrial society is the only one in which that autistic tranny in denial would be able to even go on with his LARP. Can you imagine his lone wolf mentality in any other era? He would be miserable and alone (or more likely dead) during both american and neolithic revolution. Industrial societies fault is not that it took away life that Ted should have. Its fault is that he survived childhood to begin with.
