Why the fuck does every fucking story need a shitty love subplot? I'm so tired of this garbage in every single story, its never good romance, its never passionate love, its just tacked on bullshit for the sake of tacking it on.

IN EVERY FUCKING BOOK

Stop it. I'm not reading fantasy books about dragons and magic to read about your shitty lovey dovey side plot. I'm not reading historical dramas to have some shitty forced love drama between a man and his milk maid. I'm not reading a space opera so you can inject some generic helpless love interest in space. I don't read mystery novels so you can have some random fucking faggot sweep in and save the day.

Fuck romance
fuck love
any author that forces this shit in their books is a hack fraud.

It is a problem, yeah. It's like reading a bad description from an author who was told in highschool that every description must include sight, smell, touch, sound, and taste in order to have life. It obviously fucking doesnt. Just like a plot doesn't need a romance, a character doesn't need a mentor, an ending doesn't need to climax with an epic fight, etc...

Love plots never show up in children's literature, even when the protagonists are a boy and girl. Plus there are hundreds upon hundreds of literary childrens lit books to read. Look for kirkus review starred books, ALA notable books written BEFORE 2012 when the great diversity awokening entered the childrens lit world

>> No.17530026

>>17530011
By the way, this is one of the main reasons I read literary children's literature -- because it doesnt have love plots. The last three adult books I read all had them, and I also find love plots tiresome and uninteresting.

Well there's your problem right there anon

>> No.17530058

I don't mind if it's there I guess, but I'm also tired of the frequency of love plots. Just started watching another TV show: every episode theres obviously a few minutes of sex filler which is obviously lazy and uninspired writing. I mean you can establish the romance but after awhile it's like, "we get it, you guys bang." Anything else going on?

Depends how far back you consider "children"
Does YA books count as "children" books? Because they're filled to the brim with that garbage.

Even going further back, shit like animorphs and Gregor the Overlander had their side romance plots (albeit to a lesser degree)

Are you perhaps implying that normal modern day fiction isn't far worse with that? Its literally just fuck bunnies the 'genre', I'd rather they just relabel contemporary fiction to be horny millennials the genre.

>> No.17530176

>>17530106
I was alluding to the fact that genre fiction books almost always have a love story in them because it's almost certainly necessary. However, most genre writers can't write a great love story on the same level as those literary fiction writers.

>> No.17530256

>>17530097
Oh my goodness No, No NO! YA is certainly not the same as children's literature. I cant stand YA. Its the shittiest of all genres. Childrens literature is absolutely distinct from it.

I'm talking about good, literary children's books.

I actually like romance when its the main subject of a novel. Romance novels are cute. But the difference is that with a romance novel the entire focus is on making that romance work.

I hate romance as a subplot because it's just shoved in there as an afterthought that they need to shove in there because everyone else is doing it too.
