I'm going to read Schopenhauer before reading Kant and NOBODY can stop me.
I MIGHT watch a lecture on the critique of pure reason first, MAYBE.

The World and Will as Representation
However, my local bookstore has NO Schopenhauer, The closet B&N has NO Schopenhauer. Wtf? I'm going to walk to the closet used bookstore and see if they have anything at all but i'm doubtful.

wtf cant they order it for you?

I fucking HATE that question. I can order it MYSELF. I want to slap them everytime a store asks me that. I enjoy being able to walk to a store and buy what i'm looking for. Not walking there to order from amazon with extra steps. I'm glad bookstores are going out of business.

that's an interesting worldview, could you expand on why you think like that

I don't hold it against my local used bookstore though, I treat that like more of a coin toss anyway whenever I make the walk. Last time I went I got the complete works of shakespeare and had a nice conversation about it with the owner. Its the perfect comfortable overflowing hard to navigate used bookstore. If they have any Schopenhauer it will fewel like finding treasure, amazon is soulless

I did a little below with the used bookstore. But with a large store it feels like they are insulting my intelligence. I'm doing them a favor by not just ordering it off of amazon and we both know it. If I show up to their store and they don't have what i'm looking for in stock its a just another indication of their inadequacy. last time it was a Fagles translation of the Iliad (Boulder bookstore btw, quiet large), another time they didn't have a copy of Demons.
I'd rather they just self-flagellate in front of me and apologize for being worthless instead of offering to order the book so I can come back 2 weeks later. No thank you, I will get it in 1 day with amazon.

I'm spoiled now, I have several bookstores and used bookstores in my proximity that have literally everything I could ever want, but that means I don't buy books anymore because I know beforehand that I'll find whatever I search for. So it makes no sense to go in the first place unless I ran out of books or need something specific

I read Schopenhauer beofre reading Kant too. As long as you're familiar with Kant's philosophy, and a lecture should be enough to familiarize you with it, you'll be fine.

You are shooting bullets into your thigh everytime you ask a business to act as an intermediary between you and another/item. Go to the source.
