I LAUGHED MILDLY.

ONTOPIC:

BECAUSE YOU "BUY THEM FOR THE SAKE OF BUYING THEM FOR THE PURPOSE OF READING THEM" INSTEAD OF "BUYING THEM BECAUSE YOU FIND THEM INTERESTING" OR BECAUSE YOU LIKE THE AUTHOR OR WHATEVER. LIKE IF YOU ARE TRYING TO "BECOME SMARTER" BY PAINSTAKINGLY READING COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF BOOKS, WHICH IS REALLY STUPID. DO NOT BE SUCH A SCHMUCK. I DO NOT LIKE YOU VERY MUCH.

You bought some books.
You helped the industry.

I applaud you.

You will finish the books one day. Or not. Either way, enjoy reading them.

UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUK

You did not want to continue after reading Drawing of the three? A lot of people hail that as the best book in the series. So far I'm on Wolves of the Calla (the fifth one), and the series has been incredible. It's a definite recommendation.

Gunslinger remains my favourite, Wizard and Glass on a close second.

I'll probably go back to it at some point, but I didn't like how it set up a world I liked and ditched it. Plus I was genuinely scared for the series when [Actual spoiler:] Roland loses his fingers

This was a couple of years ago when I was a reading weenie, so perhaps it is time to get back up on the horse and try again. Thanks for the motivation.

King makes it work. Just like he manages to make Suze work despite her little mishap. There are hints at restoration but so far I haven't seen it happen.

You've also missed the best understanding of truth ever written.

Reading habits thread?

I buy lots of books too. I have to acquire a book as soon as possible after I've decided I want to read it or I go crazy.

However, at any given time there is a single "right" book that I feel I should be reading, so when I get a new book I might have to wait before I can read it. The longest I've had a book without reading it was about 4 years.

Sometimes I also read many books at a time (think ~5).

>> No.1806987

I have bought hardly any books that I haven't read.

There might be 10...

I also read pretty much everything I get from the library, or at least everything I start, I finish.

How can you just leave it unfinished :\ can't stand that

>> No.1807038

We should form an operation of sorts to read ALL of our unread books. And you can't buy new ones before all the unread are read. I hate the remorse I get now when I buy books. It is because of those unfinished ones. Life would be so much simple if I had only one unread book at a time. Why do I do this to myself...

>> No.1807046

I think it's nice to have unread books. It makes it feel like a library, and it's exciting to go to the shelves/stacks and pick one out of many. As long as you're reading at some pace.
