You say that as though Tolkien cooked up children's books for a fat paycheck, that Lovecraft didn't write his best fiction for love of the craft of suspense. Even then, do you really think that the hacks they hire to write about how cool, sexy and totally deserving of your money their streamers are will have one hundredth of the passion that REH had for Conan or Texas, stories he wrote for a paycheck? I expect as much effort as a Neil Gaiman introduction to some fantasy novel re-release.

I don't really get why you're starting with these but I'll just copy my post from the previous thread.

Like the other guy said, you can go with the staples : Renegade Immortal, I shall seal the heavens, Desolate Era, Martial World...Coiling Dragon is the novel that made xianxia popular in the west some years ago if you're interested but I didn't like it that much.
They're all finished and have proved their worth overtime. They're also all what you'd expect from cultivation novels, without any big twist on the formula. Don't just pick some random shit from Webnovel.
When you feel like you want something more lighthearted I recommend A Will Eternal.

I suppose your problem is perhaps that you're not coming at this from the right angle.

Write a book to change your life; tell a story that resonates with you. Don't write fantasy to "write fantasy".

Do you mean stuff that's explicitly chivalric romance or just any fantasy with a romance at the heart of it?

Because the latter has produced some of my favourite fantasy ever (Chalion, Swordspoint) and some of my fav books of recent years.
As for the former (which is the definition wiki gives) I can barely think of anything that fits into it.

Organisms killing another organisms in an eternal cycle just to live, what, 80 years? What is the point of it all? Just to continue evolution and breeding? Easy to see how one might lose hope and meaning in one's individual life when one believes the individual, or even humanity itself, is without any inherent value, expect for being a self-propagating organism.

I'm not that Anon but I listened to the unabridged audiobook. It's part of the Romance invasion into SFF. Contrary to a previous post, the intended audience isn't teen girls, it's all female SFF readers. There's a bit of love triangle, a bit of Hunger Games, a bit of murder mystery, and slightly based on the Cinderella story. Essentially it's a women's power fantasy where she's a chosen one, she's beautiful, two guys like her (most guys like her?), she's capable of killing anyone who annoys her (but she can't for reasons), she gets to read lots of books and eat candy, she gets to dress up in a beautiful gown and wow everyone at the ball, etc.
I've heard it's her debut effort and the second book fixes some of the first's issues so I might try listening to that sometime.

Nah, its not her debut, but rather her web serial being published by an actual publisher and not fictionpress.

brainlets are driven by the pursuit of novel forms of exclusivity that they themselves are a part of. Hence why if you put a /pol/tard in a group with only straight white dudes, they're going to start narrowing down the definition of straight, white and male in a way that makes them feel superior

>Nightflyers by George R.R. Martin
I bought this thinking "Nightfliers" was the whole book. I was wrong; it was a collection of stories, and ironically, Nightfliers was one of the weaker tales.

This book has a few gems: "Override" and "Weekend in a War Zone" were fantastic!

I was introduced to Martin's style through the short story "Sandkings" (not in this book), and this book had plenty more of his hard SF/horror style and Hitchcockian twists.

I recommend this book to get an enjoyable sampling of this writing master's style.
